Real time spectating with no delay

Players should be able to spectate their friends games with no 2 minute delay for coaching and entertainment purposes. Players spectating their friends would be barred from spectating the other team permanently for obvious reasons.

This would be an okay option in Practice Games where it's selected to be allowed before the game begins, but if you want to watch a friend play in real time they could just stream the game.

So I'm going to vote No, but it would be an okay option to add for Practice Games if the game creator selects it prior to the game starting.

    for matchmaking no, "free maphack"

but there should an option to remove the spectator delay from practice games (like the cheat option, should be very clearly visible to all players that join the game) and tournament games.
The coaching function isn't implemented yet, so no need to demand features for it, that will probably be in it anyway.

As long as you add fog so you can only see it from the friends team perspective for the entire game then there should be no problem. If you are watching dire and want to switch to radiant the game could just have you load for 2min for the normal delay. Should be able to switch back instantly too.

Directed camera needs a minimum ten second delay in order to function. Would this be acceptable as a possible option for practice games?

Of course, something like 10-15 seconds would be good.

If you really want to get into giving people a bunch of options, maybe allow anther option for real time spectating with no Director. So your choice for practice would be no spectating, normal spectating, low delay spectating, and "instant" with no director.

Simply add a 10-15 sec delay whenever the player uses the directed camera.

When trying to coach someone, even a small delay of a few seconds will confuse the players.

    This.
    10-15 would suck for coaching.

"Real-time spectating" implies that you're spectating a game and can see all of the vision as well as all of the wards. I cannot endorse that. However, I can endorse the idea of limited visibility to the single hero that you're friends with; IE coaching mode.

It makes sense, and this is probably planned from the get go. As long as no weird bugs show up, it's not ghosting and can only help the game develop if friends can help friends while waiting for Matchmaking to queue. Maybe even something to do while they're waiting for their friend to finish up, rather than just simply spectating their game.
