View Full Version : What about map themes?

Hey guys,

maybe the Dota 1 player remember the Dota Theme Manager which changed the Dota map into different themes, like this (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PvNE9xUmHBQ/SI6CxEhcLZI/AAAAAAAAAPw/hnFcgH3imXI/s400/Preview_Beta_1g.jpg)or this (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PvNE9xUmHBQ/SI6CwpPZH4I/AAAAAAAAAPo/yfQo-9bInok/s400/Beach_Secretshop.jpg).

Some people already showed interest in creating map themes for Dota 2 over at the joinDOTA forums. It would be awesome if Valve gave them the possibility to do so! (I don't know a lot about the workshop)

I am not into capes and hats for heroes, but I'd definetly consider buying a nice beach theme :)

Yeah I would enjoy this, maybe not those type of themes but something to that idea.

I'd love a reversed theme. Where top is Radiant and bottom is Dire.

It would be great for revealing what impact (if any) the colour schemes have on gameplay and balance, much like symmetrical TF2 maps such as 2fort did for red/blue. e.g. does the colour scheme give Radiant a psychological boost which makes up for a Dire Roshan advantage?

Eh... I'm not sure how it would work from the technical side. Just ask anyone that used Hammer Editor.

I assume they would start doing seasonal variants, once they finalize the map design. Otherwise they would have to go back and change X number of maps if they want to squash a map bug.
