  • Spectating Bots

    Hello,
I sometimes spectate bots for fun to see what they do, because it interests me, but for some reason, I can no longer spectate by going onto local lobby and broadcast channel 1.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

What I do is type "map dota" into the console, then when the map loads, using "jointeam spec;sv_cheats 1;dota_surrender_on_disconnect 0;dota_bot_set_difficulty 2;dota_bot_populate" and it works.

You should be able to just fill empty slots with bots, choose a difficulty, and start game. Have you tried this?

        Hello,
How do you use console? And I have filled empty slots and chose difficulty before and it worked, but it doesn't now for some reason.

Put "-console" in the launch options

Just in case you don't know where launch options is, in the steam library, right-click Dota 2 and click properties, then go into set launch options and type -console

•Enabled creation of local lobbies with 5v5 bots

Above was posted in a change log back in November and it worked for a while, but sometime in the past week or two it stopped working.

Nothing happens in the game and if I go to the console a see a error message about:

Player [U:1:115598668] in lobby not found in player resource?
Player [U:1:115598668] in lobby not found in player resource?

I tried this, but the game never started to run. It sat there at time 0:00 with all 10 bots in their fountains and no items.

I also tried -startgame from chat and that did not work. Is there a console command I need to add to actually start the game?

I only encountered that issue once and I resolved it by restarting Dota.

Restarting Dota did not work, however restarting steam did work, so I am now able to use the console workaround. Thank you.

the console bot match dosnt work because the bots dont move after being created

I ran into the same problem (if your clock is stuck at 0:00) too. I found that closing and restarting steam fixed the problem.

                            Slightly unrelated:
I tried to manually set all 10 heroes using dota_bot_force_pick, but I found that the console seems to truncate my command after around 250 characters. (I did not count) Is there another way to do this? I tried using the shorter aliases such as cm, but dota_bot_force_pick does not seem to recognize aliases. Is there a way to expand the console buffer for a single command?

You can probably make it into a cfg, i.e. having all the different picks on a separate line, and execute it through the console.
