  • Is it just me or do bots deal insane damage?

Are their damage boosted or something? I can't figure out but it seems like they are doing like 1.5x or 2x more damage...?

  • #2
they do tend to nuke on a single target

    you could get
    - stunned and tossed by tiny
    - lina ult+flame
    - etc

should be enough to kill a single target

Nope, they are not, you can always watch the reply and see the dmg taken, or even look in the small battle log console. They might take 2x gold in the insane mod, or something like that, but I doubt they do 2x damage, it's simply too much.

Instead on focusing on PvP on this game fix the bot issue because I'm really not happy playing this game at all.

^What do you think this comment will change? It was no constructive feedback. And the Bot development team has (supposedly) pretty much nothing to do with the actual development. So this is also the wrong place (aside from the fact that you post it in a random thread).

Dota IS a PvP game. The bots are meant as a way to learn the rules of the game and get familiar with it without the pressure of playing against humans. The bots are never intended to replace human opponents, and the game will always be designed for humans to be playing humans.

If you want to play AI, you're probably best to look for another game.

So you're suggesting that they should stop focusing on the bots? What about the new Co-op vs. AI matchmaking they just introduced in the Test client? They have a long way to go with the bots before that becomes a really viable mode.

As it stands, the bots are not suitable for learning anything but carries. The player's team usually fails to organize for pushes, so it is impossible to get a realistic idea of playing a support hero. They fail to follow up on most initiations, so initiators are out of the question.

The devs have been doing a great job on AI design over the past few weeks, but by no means should they just call it quits because Dota 2 is "a PvP game." Bot AI has huge potential as a learning tool, and it's apparent that there will be an entire game mode based on matchmaking against them...so let's be constructive in improving them.

OT: No, the bots don't do any abnormally high damage, even on Unfair mode. They DO tend to focus their skills on players rather than bots, which can be really frustrating. Their APM seems to be extremely high, even on Medium. Their teamwork is inhuman, as they react instantly to certain actions. For instance, if I blink in to initiate with Echo Slam, they all instantly pop me before I can even pull off casting it...not some stun combo, I mean 1200+ points of face-melting burst damage.

Don't worry, we'll continue working on bots, and we'll continue working on the main game as well. There's plenty of work to be done in both areas.

Is it just me or do these two sentences contradict each other? You say Co-op vs AI isn't viable but then give an example of a problem it would fix.

also, co-op vs ai looks to be a great way to learn the ropes with low pressure.

And your post is a complete garbage when it comes to helping DotA 2 development. Including that post below the post I just quoted.

                            Sigh.

I like following the bot development, but saying Valve should stop focusing on tuning the PvP game is just ignorant. They're not probably not even competing, and even if they were, the PvP game should take precedence over bots. Dota is a multiplayer game, not a single player RPG.
