  • Tidehunter holds onto ultimate. Displays uselessness by jungling all game.

Whether it be defending a tier 3 or starting a team fight, Tidehunter doesn't use his Ravage almost ever. He buys Blink Dagger, but he almost never uses it to initiate on a group of enemies with Ravage. When he plays on your team, he will farm jungle when your base is getting pushed in, and then he will walk back through the same lane the enemies are pushing. He just walks right past them. He does this while carrying a blink dagger, upgraded boots, TP scroll, and maybe another item. He'll even do this with 1500 gold in the bank, which is a lot of money for a Tidehunter post-blink dagger. He doesn't need to be farming with the items he has, he needs to be at the front line engaging the enemy.

The biggest issue is when it comes to defending a tower in your base. Instead of initiating while the tower is up, he will wait for the enemies to take down tower and both rax, before he then starts attacking, and only because they're attacking him. Once he gets low on health he might use his Ravage, but it's not a guarantee. I think they feel they are safe behind the tower and just don't want to initiate a fight to defend his rax 9/10 times. He's basically the lynchpin and he's always missing when it matters most.
    This ain't ova.

I've never EVER seen bots do a proper initiation, despite having the team-wrecking combos available (tide+es comes to mind), the only exception being Lich ultis I've seen occasionally that just wreck everything, but those are just thrown out there without any initiation in mind.
They usually just walk into the enemy team, throw some spells and autoattacks at random, then start running when at low health which usually gets them killed.
The enemy bots will, however, immediately chainstun the living crap out of a human player who comes into range.

It's true now that you mention it actually, I haven't actually had a Tide/ES initiation in ages. Tiny and Vengeful Spirit are just as aggressive as always though.

Turns out you CAN get them to initiate, I'm pretty sure I made ES pull off a blink+echo initiation yesterday by spamming pings on all the supports.

Did some tuning of their aggression factors and positioning desires when Ravage/Echo Slam are up for the next update, hopefully it makes them a little more intiate-y. I also lowered Tide's desire to farm post-blink-dagger some.

Additionally, with yesterday's update bots should more easily transition out of "defensively stay behind the tower" into "attack those jerks on my tower". There was a bug where the defend desire was preventing the attack behavior from taking over (they both had the same peak desire so Attack wasn't overtaking Defend, now Attack's peak desire is higher than Defend can go).

Well Done! Both Tidehunter and Earthshaker are loads better at blink/ulti combos and fights in front of towers is actually a thing now.
