I've been introducing friends to dota, usually starting with 1 game of passive bots to learn controls/shopping/etc and then moving to easy bots. One thing that I have noticed from friends who have never played any similar games, they die to the enemy bots right off the bat, a lot. Usually these deaths involve players walking up to the creeps, autoattacking, and then trying to run away once they reach half HP. Easy bots will continue to chase back to the tower, usually finishing them off.
For the first 10-15 minutes, easy bots should recognize the dire/radiant creep line and not pass it. This will make it easier for extremely new players to recognize when they have over extended as they learn this is where bots will attack me, this is where they will not. Learning that they can still be chased should be a lesson kept for medium bots or for games that go beyond the laning phase.
