  • Depressing to play support against bots

I want to, I WANT to play support but... I guess I should just go back to practicing meepo and invoker.

    The fight starts.

All bots target the same player. That is pretty much what we expect, they're well coordinated enough for that. Problems start to happen when game transitions into mid-game, at which point bots completely ignore player carries unless they're alone and surrounded. At that point, playing support is hell on earth.

Bots ignore the carries, automatically engage support, and will even start ultimate bot trains of fail RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE CARRY, aiming at a support who's running away. Worse, they will KEEP their spells/nukes/disables/ultimates for supports.

This is so stupid, why would anyone want to play support? it's already a play-style that is generally less fun than carry/ganker, if you get auto-targeted (and usually killed) by bots so blatantly it hurts, what's the point?

I know supports are easier to kill, and I know players often target supports first too in normal games, but bots... they ALWAYS do it. Players don't. If you totally ignore the enemy carry, guess what? he's going to trainwreck you. Which happens to all bot teams because they target supports like their life depends on it, then get 30-0'd by a Nightstalker. Heh, karma I guess. Problem: they're bots. They can be re-programmed.

Seriously, try it. Pick wisp, CM, or any hard support with little escape, slow movement speed, and enjoy your game consisting mainly of being dead. If you don't die, that means you were useless and didn't join any fights anyway...

End of rant. Too long, didn't read: bots always target supports, even ignoring other players, and playing support is already boring so it becomes annoying AND boring. And that leaves us with a wonderful 5-carry team. Yay!

I never really had much problems playing support against bots, Force staff, blink dagger, Mekansm always helps with survivability. In lane you should try to be more aggresive, ping the bots you want to kill so your lane partner will act to help kill.

When I play vs bots, I buy forcestaff on almost any hero without escape.

It's a must have item against their madchase.

Force Staff confirmed as best item vs bots.

OP has a point tho. Bots really start to ignore carries for some unknown reason. This is the main factor as to why Viper bot steamrolls the other team on a regular basis. Viper bot is actually not that good, because he is out of position a lot, but that doesn't get punished because he is simply ignored. In some games the retardchasing isn't happening and this is when Viper gets royally tossed in the dumpster.

i actually like practicing with bots as i dont like ruining games picking heroes that i don't know how to play.
Unfortunatly, bots suck for practicing unless you play a carry type hero.
The only way i can practice with supports is in a real match, and if u feed, banned "practice with bots" they say lolz, they don't even know what it's like to be a support in the first place.

It has nothing to do with the sort of hero, just that they ignore any hero who has a lot more farm than them. They go:
"It would be suicide to engage on a hero with that much farm!" into:
"I better not attack him" into:
"I better run away (even if I have no chance of escape because of slows)" OR "I better do something else like attack creeps (even if he's sitting on top of me attacking me)"

I could buy force staff but, I mean... watch any pro player playing Wisp, he won't ever buy force staff.

What's the point of making bots in order to help people practice if they force you to play carry, or go full retard and force the purchase of items such as force staff on heroes who don't really need it?

It's just broken and needs a fix.

Amen to this on both counts. A sad amount of players don't know what's its like to be a support, only pick carries then wonder why nobody has bought the courier when their team consists of 5 carries and lose because they are constantly fighting their own team for farm. Ugh, reminds me why I don't play this game with humans much anymore. Giving up all your fun to play support for a carry who can't last hit to save their life just because you want to be a 'team player' made me really think 'why the hell do I do this to myself' and I could not come up with a satisfying answer.

Having said that, if I do random or play a support I try to gank, lane pull, get a bit of farm and play a bit of a semi carry role. CM with 8 minute Midas? Mmmmm tasty .

To be honest it's best to check for what your team needs instead of just stubbornly buying items. Try to judge the situation and if you feel like you need a forcestaff to do much better, it's not wrong to buy it. I still agree with you saying that playing support in a botgame is not helping to practise.

force staff op vs bots. They spaz out, pile on top of the person you force-staffed, and you can teamwipe them instantly with aoe nukes.

If you're playing alone with 4 bot teammates, the problems also come from their inability to carry well. Either by inefficient farming or dumb builds (juggernaut rushing lifesteal) or dying for dumb reasons. Playing support or something that can't carry somehow is doomed to fail.
