  • [Confirm]Xmarks the spot doesn't return invunlerable units to their previous location

    Repro:
1)Use X marks the spot on a moving hero (if he was holding still you wouldn't notice his relocation)
2)Use Euls on that hero (you can also do it with naga sleep or bane's nightmare although it needs a better timing)

    Result:
Hero won't be returned to where hi was if he is invulnerable.

    Expected result:
Hero will be returned to his previous location even if he is invulnerable.

What makes you think it should affect invulnerable heroes? I think the spell would be insanely broken if it worked that way.

No, it is really not confirmed. This is 100% intended, Eul is one of possible ways how to counter Kunkka's combo. Invulnerable units can't be affected by any spell, only ability which breaks the rule is Pudge's hook.

That's not fully true. In regards to positioning effects the last effect should always override the previous one. So just like Glimpse it should affect Faceless Void during Time Walk or Morphling's Waveform.

You don't understand the way invulnerability works.

How about testing in WC3 before posting?

                  It makes you invulnerable! sigh...

Eul's scepter gives magic immunity. X marks the spot is a magic spell.

It returns invulnerable units in WC3. It's probably intended in Dota 2, as invulnerability ignores 99% of the stuff in Dota 2 unlike WC3.

All I know is that Glimpse overrides all Blink like invulnerability spells that don't properly banish the affected unit. So I don't see a reason why X shouldn't do the same.

There are two schools of thought, that wc3 differences are bugs, and that wc3 differences are... wc3 differences. The devs tend more toward the first than the latter.

Also i think the mechanic glimpse isn't the same in this game either.

Well, i think there is difference in that, that WC3 invulnerability is not a buff, but a standalone ability you must add/remove from specific unit, if you want to make it invulnerable. Spell itself works only as a "trigger" calling some outer scripts, and effects like invulnerability apply only for that "trigger" (aka you can cast it, or not). JASS simple doesn't give f*ck about it. There must be some kind of periodical check, which checks if unit has for example spell "invulnerable" added.

I think D2 works the way - Unit received invulnerability -> automatically ignore everything.

There are a number of skills that affect invulnerable units somehow. The most obvious ones are Meat Hook, Omnislash and Glimpse.

To me it only makes sense if X affected units the same way Glimpse does.

x-marks is probably not a glimpse effect anymore but just a generic spell that repositions.
