    Time: 41:39 to 45:55
    Bug: Me(Ember Spirit) became both invisible and untargetable after I used some series of abilities. My model became completely transparent and not highlightable, so enemies and allies could not target me unless with no-target abilities. Creeps and towers however would attack me, and I could be attacked if an enemy had auto-attack enabled. Effects(such as an urn of shadows heal or flame guard) would appear around my not-existing model. The bug seemed to end at 45:55 when I used Sleight of Fist, and I am unable to reproduce it.

    Summary

    If Ember Spirit casts his W (Sleight of Fist) on an enemy becoming invisible, Ember Spirit may become permanently "invisible" himself. It is a visual glitch only (but very game-impacting); he is still targeted by creeps or A-clicks from heroes. He has no hitbox or model.

    Reproduction
    • Choose Ember Spirit
    • Create an enemy with e.g. -createhero kunkka enemy
    • Give the enemy a shadowblade with -givebots item_invis_sword
    • Take a point in Ember Spirit's ability Sleight of Fist
    • Move out of range of the enemy
    • Order a cast of Sleight of Fist on the enemy's position
    • Just before the ability is about to start, have the enemy use the shadowblade

    The timing is very difficult, I had 3 successes in about 20 attempts. Using the console command dota_range_display 700 is a useful way to predict when the ability is about to start.

    Result

    Ember Spirit's model is no longer visible, although a non-moving thingy (forgive my technical language) is left at his previous position:

    Here is some debug information on the Ember Spirit unit, produced in a local game. In particular, the line "Effects :48 (EF_NODRAW = 32)" is probably relevant:

    I was able to reproduce this with Clinkz' Skeleton Walk as well. Presumably it will also happen with other forms of invisibility:

    The thingy is not a remnant (I am level 1 or 2 in the screenshots). It seems to change size given enough time:

    Ember Spirit can freely move about and cast spells. The bug can be removed by casting W again (as long as it actually hits a target; zero-target casts don't work). At this moment the visual thingy goes away.

    The visual glitch (the orange thingy) can also be removed with the console commands "record 1; stop" (which generally clear visual glitches) however Ember Spirit himself will still be "invisible".

    Expected Result

    These phenomena fail to occur.

        Thanks a lot for taking the time to figure out how to reproduce this so hopefully it can be fixed easier, what's the normal process for getting a significant bug like this added to the sticky? I would think Valve would want to know about this before they add the hero to captains mode.

          We hope a mod sees it and adds it to the list.

          While it could be called a visual glitch it is definitely gameplay-affecting.

            This happened to me in a game yesterday, but i dont think i used it on someone about to go invis, i used it into fog on someone who i think was about to TP out. I havent checked replay so not 100% sure, but i was invisible untill my next use of slight of fist.

                This just happened to me in a bot match.

                Bot Tiny grabbed invisibility rune. I used Sleight of Fist on him in the few seconds of true sight before the invisibility took effect. Tiny went invis and Ember Spirit became invisible himself.

                The major issue with this is that spells that target units will be rendered useless against an invisible ES since he cannot be clicked anymore. The bug goes away after using Sleight of Fist again.

                    Wouldn't an easier way to repo this bug be to use a shadow amulet rather than invis stick?

                      Hmm quite possibly - but because of the fade time the range at which to cast the invisibility is harder to judge.

                      It does cause the bug though, I just checked.

                        Happen to me today, it wasn't a shadow blade this time but bh's invisibility.

                        It's almost as clear as you said on your first post, this is the time and match id: dota2://matchid=559348228&matchtime=800

                        That will give you like 5 secs to react and see the bug occur. Bounty hunter is on the radiant team, and me(ember) is at the top lane. I tried reconnecting but that did not fix it, so i tried spamming other skills near by until it worked. Tower did hit me thought, so the hero does not leave the map, the model simply disappears, however I was unable to hover myself with the mouse on the reply. Hope this helps to find a more easier way to reproduce it.

                          It happened to me today.

                          I first did a Searing Chain then a Sleight of fist on Tinker, then my hero (ember Spirit) became invisible. I am not sure if Tinker went invi at the same time. According to one of my team, Ember Spirit was stucked in the air where I attacked Tinker. On my screen, I could still control the hero, but he was not visible. I restarted Dota 2, it did not fix the problem.
                          It corrected itself at around 12:06, when I did another Searing Chain / Sleight of fist on Tinker. So invisible for 5 min. I did not try to reproduce

                            at 13:31 game time you see ember spirit completely going invisible at this very moment he used 'slight of fists' against weaver.
                            weaver was just going invis and nobody got hit by 'sledge of fist', although it was on cooldown.

                            ember spirit gets visible again at 14:16 after he used 'active fire remnant'.

                            radiant team appearently couldn't attack him and is calling him a cheater.

                            wtf happened there?

                              I could repro this easily with slow timescale.

                              You have to time the spells so that the slash on the target registers the target but it turns invisible before the slash hits it.






                              ALSO, casting Fire Remnant while in this condition crashes the game. I guess this happens because the remnants are based on the caster's model (eg rubick remnants look like rubick).
