  • [Fixed] Rot May Deal Damage to Self Faster Than its Interval

    http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/commen...was_using_key/

Whenever Pudge toggles Rot on, it damages himself for the initial amount.

This is a bug, according to DotA 1.

Rot is primarily based off of hardcoded Immolation, which, like Radiance, cannot damage a unit more than once per its interval (0.2).

Wasn't that done to prevent no self damage rot if you quickly toggle it?

Yup exactly. It was done because people were exploiting it as it also slows down the enemy.

Yep, also if it was based on a hardcoded spell, how can it hurt the caster then? It means an additional trigger is here, so the "cannot damage a unit more than once per its interval" may not be applicable here.

The damage and toggling comes from hardcoded Immolation with allowed targets targs1=enemies,ground,neutral,organic,self. The slow comes from a hidden Slow Aura (obviously without the target self).

With this bug you can get scenarios like this:
          Code:
[02:30.56] Pudge hits Centaur Warrunner with Rot for 16 damage (1396->1380).
[02:30.63] Pudge hits Pudge with Rot for 16 damage (209->193).
[02:30.70] Pudge hits Pudge with Rot for 16 damage (193->177).
[02:30.76] Pudge hits Pudge with Rot for 16 damage (176->160).
[02:30.76] Pudge hits Centaur Warrunner with Rot for 16 damage (1380->1364).
[02:30.83] Pudge hits Pudge with Rot for 16 damage (160->144).
[02:30.90] Pudge hits Pudge with Rot for 16 damage (144->128).
[02:30.96] Pudge hits Pudge with Rot for 16 damage (128->112).
[02:30.96] Pudge hits Centaur Warrunner with Rot for 16 damage (1364->1348).
[02:31.03] Pudge hits Pudge with Rot for 16 damage (111->95).
[02:31.10] Pudge hits Pudge with Rot for 16 damage (95->79).
[02:31.16] Pudge hits Pudge with Rot for 16 damage (79->63).
[02:31.16] Pudge hits Centaur Warrunner with Rot for 16 damage (1349->1333).
[02:31.23] Pudge hits Pudge with Rot for 16 damage (63->47).
[02:31.30] Pudge hits Pudge with Rot for 16 damage (46->30).
[02:31.37] Pudge hits Pudge with Rot for 16 damage (30->14).
[02:31.37] Pudge hits Centaur Warrunner with Rot for 16 damage (1333->1317).
Notice how Centaur is still hit with the correct interval. The correct (according to DotA 1) behavior is to have Pudge take the same damage as Centaur.

You still ignore that that supposed to prevent exploits.

It prevented people from using Rot while taking no damage. If they took damage at the same times as the enemy, it would achieve the same effect.

so acording to this pudge takes 3 times dmg while enemy just 1? doesnt seem right imo.

why not make rot when u activate it u cant toggle it off fast untill the first tick of dmg has been done to both targets? that way it cant be exploited like before and every1 takes the same damage like the tooltip says.

                  Pudge Rot abuse

sorry about this, I'm a mod over at playdota.com and someone posted an apparent exploit, so I thought I'd repost it here. It seems kinda game breaking if legitimate.

So during the last 2 days I've met at least 4 self deny master pudges. At first I was like: ok the guy got some nice timings but when this happened in multiple matches it got me suspicious so I took a look at combat log and comeup with what they are doing:

                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQWKKjNm1sk

This is my first attempt at this macro and as you can see I jumped into a game, got my self a blink a level and -wtf and even without much try I was able to self deny my self with great success. Btw I'm a player who has 1 game on pudge.

Rot needs some changes to how damage to pudge is dealt.
If you wish to speak to me, contact me on Playdota.

I don't really know if it really was fixed. I played a bunch of test games w/ Pudge and Rot still damaged him at the same time as I activated it. Meaning spamming it still allows for a quicker suicide.

Didnt work for me. Infact, as I tried it, spamming Rot was even slower than to just let it on.

Maybe one of you has that file, override.vpk or something similar, on?

Basically fixed. Spamming Rot with macros seemed to very rarely dodge one tick of damage, and the ticks between Pudge and enemies are still not necessarily synchronized, but meh.
