[Bane] Nightmare does not end upon taking attack damage (regular & spell attacks)

    PA's Stifling dagger does not interrupt Bane's Nightmare

    Stifling Dagger (Phantom assassin) does not wake up enemies set to sleep by nightmare (Bane), even though it deals the full damage.

    Yes, it was fixed, I'm 100% sure of that. It got broken again. I won't be surprised if the spring cleaning broke it.

    I would like to add Tidebringer cleave. I reported it before, it was added to another thread, but was never fixed. I tested it just now, the Nightmared unit still takes the damage from Tidebringer's splash, but does not wake up.

  • [Bane] Nightmare does not end upon taking attack damage (regular & spell attacks)

    Nightmare, for some reason, is coded to ignore attack damage. This means if you somehow get damaged by attacks (possible with already flying attack projectiles, or several spells which make units insta-attack), the nightmare does not end.


    Since Nightmare only transfers on attack begin this mechanic is completely unneeded. All it currently does is allow several heroes to deal (usually heavy) damage to a nightmared unit without waking them up.

    The following effects can damage Nightmared units without waking them up

    1. Any ranged attack projectile (hitting after the invulnerability)
    2. Ember's Sleight of Fist
    3. Gyro's Side Gunner
    4. Legion's Moment of Courage
    5. Phantom's Stifling Dagger
    6. Sniper's Assassinate
    7. Weaver's Geminate Attack


    All of these are able to damage nightmared units without waking them up. The only ones which do wake them up are Drow's Marksmanship and Riki's Tricks of the Trade.

    This should be a fairly simple fix. Just make it not ignore attack damage. There is no reason for it to do this, since, as mentioned already, nightmare transfers upon attack animation begin, and not upon attack hit.
