  • [Confirmed] Weaver - Time Lapse after respawn

Die with weaver, wait your long~ death cooldown
As soon as you respawn at pool, Time Lapse before 5 seconds pass by.
You will warp back to the spot you originally died at with the low hp you were at (unless you lost all your hp in like 2 seconds or something).

Expected: the "5 seconds before" that determines weaver's placement/status should be reset upon reviving, NOT 5 seconds sometime from the previous life.

brainstorming thread .. not much of a brainstorm, but just got a confirmation so I assume it is not intended how it currently works.

So what you're saying is, if you wait out your respawn time (lets say 40secs), then use time lapse the moment you respawn, you end up at the location you died with minimal hp?

This was possible in DotA and was shown on one of the blooper videos

Edit: nope, I was wrong, It was the buyback time lapse I saw

what about buyback? shouldnt you be able to timelapse back into the fight, when you insta buyback?
after 40 seconds, it is clear, that time lapse shouldnt be possible, but after 4 seconds, it should.

true, i havent tested buying back right away and time lapsing.. but im sure it would do the same thing. as for whether or not doing it that way should allow you to get back right into the fight is something im not sure about.

                  10% isn't minimal?
depends how fast you died. i died slowly to roshan and tested, i revived with very low hp. as opposed to getting nuked to death within 2~ seconds you come back with much more hp as far as i could tell.

in dota1, you used to timelapse into the position that you've died if you buyback within 5 secs and use the ult immediately. but if you can wait for your regular respawning cooldown which should be more than 5 secs if you dont own a bloodstone with instant respawn charges and still can timelapse into the position that you've died, this means the game engine does not consider the time that weaver spent dead when calculating the timelapse spell properly. its not a great but important bug.

It's kind of an old thread, but still...
Nope, it's not fixed for aegis reincarnation either.

The problem here is similar how the Time Lapse fails to lapse you 5 seconds back in time if you have just given your first point on the time lapse: http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=51792

                      Currently the Time Lapse only checks the times that it is on the map on an alive Weaver. It works like a camera, that;
                      - begins recording Weaver as soon as he gives one point on the Time Lapse
                      - pauses the record and stands by whenever Weaver dies
                      - resumes the record whenever Weaver gets back to life

And when you use it, it brings you back 5 seconds according to that recorded video.

What it should be doing is to:
                      - begin recording Weaver as soon as he gets created on the map for the first time
                      - no pause, ever
-- in case Weaver uses the Time Lapse, Time Lapse shall check whether Weaver was alive on its video exactly 5 seconds ago (doesn't matter if he was dead or alive 1~4 seconds ago); and if he wasn't alive, then no effects shall happen
-- ^ this last line was the current W3 behaviour

Could jass achieve the current state in Dota 2?
Definitely could, and as simple as adding one line.

Could jass achieve something like, "if the unit was dead 5 seconds ago, 0.5 seconds later than that and see if the unit was alive then; if yes, use that one"?
Yes, it could, but this one requires more than just one line, about 20 lines, but easy and repetitive lines. Maybe even less for someone with more jass knowledge.

I wouldn't mind if they had made something like "use the latest alive moment within last 5 seconds for the time lapse" thing, but the current way the spell works is just wrong.
