so i want to help out, but i don't really know what i'm looking at. as soon as someone can clarify something for me i should be able to help out a lot more.

under npc_heroes.txt, kunkkas "armorphysical" variable is 0, while on playdota it shows as 1.96. is the discrepency because its shown with base agility added on playdota?

also, how can i access similar information in the w3x file?

1.96 is the armor provided by Kunkka's base 14 agility.

Similar information can be found in the map dump here: http://www.playdota.com/forums/showthread.php?t=639324

It should be the other way around... If the damage won't kill= direct HP removal
If it can kill = Magical
(i assume that it checks if Hp removal>current hp, and acts according to it)
The truth about DotA and VALVe... Some VALVe employees loved to play DotA and created a team. With this team they participated in a tournament, but they lost horribly...

Erm, yes that's exactly what I said.
I said that it doesn't deal pure damage if said pure damage would not result in the target dying.

and thats exactly what should happen. hp removal unless its a killing blow, in which case magic damage is dealt. it never uses pure damage

Ugh, pure damage, HP removal. It's the same shit. The only difference is that HP removal doesn't trigger things like Blink Dagger's cooldown and whatnot.
I don't even know why Invoker's EMP would cause HP removal nowadays anyhow because it doesn't hit through his cyclone anyhow, so it may as well deal pure damage so you can avoid the entire hassle of checking for the targets health.

The simple fact is that right now Invoker's EMP ALWAYS deals magic damage, got it?

Pure Damage is blocked by Magic Immunity/being Etheral, HP Removal isn't.

in other words, emp is not blocked by magic immunity (unless it would kill the target)?o.O
                    that seems strange.

but it was always like that (at least since the one update where they fixed the dmg type i believe)

No, being Etheral will not block pure damage. The damage will not be amplified like magic damage though.

This isn't true, EMP in Dota 1 checks for magic immunity. Despite using HP-removal, it will not damage nor mana burn magic immune units. For all intents and purposes, as far as I can tell, it should operate just like pure damage as of version 6.74.

I might have said otherwise elsewhere in the forum, since EMP has always been confusing. Does EMP affect magic immune units atm in Dota 2?

srry if i keep misunderstanding you , but you say just the opposite of what i am saying, If it will not kill the target, it DOES deal pure(hp removal)
If it can kill the target, it will deal magic damage
EDIT: Damage type: Direct HP removal if the target will not die from the hit, else Magic *playdota definition,it should make it clear if there is a missunderstanding...

EMP wont remove any mana from Magic Immune Unit, therefore even if a damage is dealt, it is 0...

Don't confuse pure damage and HP removal. Pure damage, magic damage and HP removal are all separate damage types. In fact HP removal is technically not considered damage at all.
