  • [Confirmed] Blink has no minimum range

In Dota 1, Blink had a minimum range of 200. In Dota 2, this does not exist.

    Repro:
    -Pick Anti-Mage and level Blink
-Blink right on top of yourself

    Result:
-You are able to do this

    Expected:
    -Should give error message

See attached image for Dota 1 interaction.

Nice catch. I'd forgotten about that since it's not often you try blinking like that.

Could be intended. The 4/5 blink when blinking over maximum range has been removed too. AFAIK this was a real part of the limitating Wc3 engine.
If you think I've closed or deleted a post unjustified, feel free to PM me and I'll explain it to you/discuss it with you further.

Interesting. I knew about that maximum range but didn't know that was removed. Still have to consider it a bug unless a dev can confirm it was an intended fix.

No limitation. The minimum and maximum range of blink in WC3 are changeable. Minimum 0 and maximum 99999 (not 100% about max).
In WC3, they used 300 or 150 (not sure which one it was) as minimum range for Blink. DotA1 simply took it over.

Also in Dota2 the 4/5 of max distance rule still applies for Blink Dagger.
            Please, just call me buny.

Well, regardless if it's not intended, I don't see how this could be a issue, since it's not that relevant... is it?

I apologize for the little (or big) english mistakes, learn a different language is not easy....
I'm fluent in Portuguese and Japanese, btw

It's a buff for those w/ blink, really. Since you can disjoint stuns/projectiles with a blink, it could be beneficial to blink without creating distance between you and another hero.

I really think this is an intended change. Just like you no longer blink shorter if you target outside of the range.

But you do blink shorter when your target is outside range ... ?
Edit: Ah, you mean AM's blink, not Dagger's blink...

                            Confirmed.
Was very easy to confirm with dota_range_indicator 1200.

They might have changed this in the meantime since i just tried it with AM's Blink and Dagger myself ingame and even if you blink outside the range of Blink Dagger you will still blink the same range. AM's Blink doesn't have the minimum range anymore as stated above already.
