  • [Incorrect] fervor still not applying on first hit

fervor is supposed to activate at the start of an attack. it's also supposed to go to 1 not 0 when you switch targets.

this was reported in critical bugs when troll was initially ported and still hasn't been fixed.

    EDIT:

                  That's actually not true.
As stated by the description, the beginning of a first attack on a new target will reset the stack counter to 0, not 1.
Then the beginning of the second attack will set the stack counter to 1, and so on.

In the post linked, DracoLich is confused because the level of the IAS ability is set to 1 when switching targets, but this level correspond to a 0% IAS increase, or a stack counter of 0.

In conclusion, no bug here, nothing to see.

if you say so. it's still one attack late because it's applied at the end rather than start of an attack.

But that can be considered as an intended fix, as it makes more sense to increment the counter only on successful attacks.
Also, it only delays his attack point during his first few attacks, and doesn't affect his any way his attack cooldown for these attacks.

Okay thats one thing, but actually doesn't explain anything.

My question is, the buff is applied on attack animation, trigger or dmg point?

In Dota 1, the buff is applied at the beginning of the attack animation.
In Dota 2, the buff seems to be applied at the damage point.

As evidenced by Riki, Spectre and Spiritbreaker, things that happen at the beginning of the attack animation are being moved to the damage point in Dota 2.
It looks like Fervor is just another example of this.

in dota 2 the buff will be placed after the animation finishes but it will still give the buff one attack too late since in dota 2 it will be applied on the 2nd hit on the same creep rather than after the 1st so its bugged

Quite logical tbh but thats somewhat a nerf to those heroes. When all heroes will be copied to dota2, we will propably need to make some tweaks on few heroes to rebalance them, a bit.

Anyway thanks for fast respond and clearing it, tbh I totally forgot about Riki, SB etc. as examples to that.

Last thing, could you add this to the "Intended Changes List"

EDIT: Hey wait a sec, the buff is applied after first hit, so... the frontswing of second hit should be faster and iirc it is not, gonna check it now, brb
