    It continues to travel and stun the dead unit and if available also the secondary unit behind...
    all of its effects should stop as the targeted unit dies

          Hmmm, did you actually test it? Cause I can't recall if heroes are considered dead as soon as their HP drops below 0.405 or if after that dying time.

            When they die, they are considered dead.
            If they were holding aegis, then they are just considered as UNIT_STATE_HEALTH < 1, and not dead.

            But, yeah, I did test it just to make sure.
            Also, according to what I've said above, Shackleshot SHOULD continue travelling and potentially stunning the units behind if the targeted unit is only at zero HP (aka resurrecting). So, on that aspect, Dota 2 is correct now, and that part should remain untouched in case this is to be fixed.
