[Confirmed] Dragon Knight's Armor UI is deceptive

  • [Confirmed] Dragon Knight's Armor UI is deceptive

    Summary:

Since DK's armour bonus got fixed for illusions it no longer adds to the damage reduced in the UI, and it still adds to the green number, rather than his base (making it seem like it doesn't help illusions)

    Repro:

    1) Pick DK, lvlup to 7, observe UI %reduction
    2) Skill dragon's blood 4 times, observe UI %reduction

    Result:

    The same both times

    Expected result:

You have 12 more armour than before... So you should have more %reduction shown in the UI. It should also go towards his BASE armour [such that it is obvious that it works on illusions], not added on the end like it currently is...

I know this is more visual than anything but it's still mighty misleading and quite annoying if you want to know your damage reduction!

    ya noticed too
but if the armor is added to base armor, it would be confusing when TC(or elder titan) is in the field.

Wyn-Ryder is correct. In warcraft 3 dragon knight's base armor is actually changed by dragon blood, its not an armor bonus like almost everything else in the game. This is why benefits illusions (anything that adds armor normally does not).

TC's Natural Order reduces base armour only afaik. (And ofc gives a magical dmg amplyfier)

Yeah. TC's thing doesn't reduce armour given by dragon's blood. But it still displays like normal armour in the UI (and therefore indicates that illusions benefit from it) but currently it's a massive UI bug anyway, you CANNOT tell how much armour reduction you've got without doing the calculation yourself, which in my view is unacceptable (I am not whipping out a calculator halfway through my game).

hm. i thought it removes physical resistance, not armor.

It removes base physical resistance (i.e. armour given by Agi or Base), including those given by transformation skills such as Troll's and Syllabear's

ok, so currently it is just a bit sloppy ui-wise, but there is no gameplay bug yet, right?
and as soon as tc is around, we might run into problems, correct?

i'll add this to annoyance for now.

                      and now we have problem:

look at armor value (Titan and knight skills - lvl 4)
DK should lose a much more armor

No he shouldn't. Armour granted through upgrades (such as DK's armour) isn't considered in natural order... (This is the only +armour that shouldn't get reduced AFAIK)

I tested this, and as Wyn-Ryder says, the title and the report are incorrect/misleading.

ET's aura wasn't counting Dragon's Blood armour in the reduction, it was ignored just like +armor from items.

just out of curiousity: why wasnt dragon blood listed as +armor in wc3 dota when it behaves exactly like it?

This is my guess since I haven't looked at the code, but ET's aura probably calculates the base armour manually (adding the base model's armour + the agi) instead of actually looking at the base armour (since it might be impossible).

And in those calculations Dragon's Blood isn't considered. For other purposes (hardcoded purposes, like illusions) Dragon's Blood is base armour.
