  • [Fixed] Fatal bonds dealing damage when a unit is insta-killed(midas etc)

    Summary:
Fatal bonds deals damage to linked units if one of the linked targets gets killed using an insta-kill spell such as: midas, demonic conversion, devour (haven't tested), hex (against illusions), difusal (against golem), Sacrifice etc.

    Repro:
    1. Get warlock and level fatal bonds
    2. Get enemy units that can be targeted by bonds and one of the spells above
2.1 Make sure you have other enemies bonded so you see the results
    3. Use any of the above mentioned spells on the unit
    Result:
After the unit dies the other bonded targets take damage (i think the damage is equal to the life of the dying target)

    Expected:
Unit dies but the other bonded targets don't take damage from it.

Well... This was discussed before but I can't find it on the sticky... It shouldn't work on any damage over (3000?) or if the unit is removed rather than damaged. It may also be the case that fatal bonds is doing to little damage when the target receives fatal damage (working like lifesteal --> where it should work like blademail - but I am not 100% sure on this)

        http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?...l=1#post533507
-- for DotA behaviour for damage transfer with Fatal Bonds (there is a 6000 damage cap)

Blood Bath procs for units transmuted by midas (discussion) added 29.08.2012 as intended
-- implies midas kill should be regarded as a damage done, bullshit if you ask me, but moderators are allowed to pass bullshit through

Culling Blade killing blow damage is not a hundred thousand damage as it should be, has been pointed out in many threads, including this one: http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?...l=1#post475822

I don't know... Midas kill being considered as a damage dealt is nothing different from the demonic conversion, devour, hex, diffusal against summons if you ask me
        I would say:
        - remove Midas thing from the intended changes list, because I don't find it logical at all
        - give trena99 a cake for his great find about demonic conversion, devour, hex getting counted as damage as their effects happen
        - make diffusal against summons deal 99999 damage and Culling Blade deal 100 000 000 damage as they did in DotA, and consider these as bugs until they get fixed

I don't think there are any damage caps for reflect damage in Dota 2 right now (remember the pudge spectre insta gib bug?)

An easier solution would probably be just to exclude certain spells from being reflected, such as the ones ThoAppelsin mentioned.
I would think changing the damage to aburd amounts will create more bugs than necessary to fix, but I guess its up to valve to decide.

Damage doesn't need to be done, it just needs to kill for Blood Bath. Midas does kill, so it makes sense to me.
However, Midas prevents Necronomicon Last Will from triggering if I'm not mistaken? In which case, it's inconsistent behaviour for sure.

              Tested, almost definitely no cap

also tested with Fatal Bonds, did pretty much identical damage and killed both 2 linked dooms.

Just FYI weave stacks, for future tests. Much easier than spamming all those spells on it :P
