I searched but couldn't find a thread about this, why are the spirits even able to attack Roshan outside the pit? It's not possible in WC3.

          Because this is Dota2.
          Probably not considered as units.

This is because all spells that "attack" don't actually attack. They are programmed to be similar to attacks but are not actual attacks so things get forgotten and misbehave. Also as bu3ny said, they are probably not a unit similar to how transformations are not a different unit unlike dota1.
Finally decided to "transition" to dota 2. Still does not like moving.

Because he gets attacked by invulnerable units (the ghosts) and when units get attacked by something they can't see, the AI flees. In Dota2, the damage source is set to be Death Prophet since the ghosts aren't units there appereantly, so she gets attacked.

She's the one doing the damage, not the ghosts.

In DotA1, she still takes damage from blade mail, because the damage is redirected towards her, like how it's done with rhasta's and WD's wards. The summons deal the damage, but the hero takes blade mail damage.

In Dota2, she's the damage source from begin with, so she takes the damage. This is not the case with rhata's and wd's wards though.

What's even funnier is you can smoke and ulti him while not revealing yourself, the ghost just attack him without an attack order,so the smoke doesn't break
