    We will help you H0ney
cast a targeting spell, quick cast off:

    1) press the hotkey
    2) click on the target
    3) If target is wrong, send an error message and return to 2), else go to 4)
    4) spell resolve

    quick cast on:
    1) press the hotkey
    2) check the target under the cursor
    3) If target is wrong, send an error message and return to 2), else go to 4)
    4) spell resolve

So there's no room for double tap quick cast, indeed, if you double tap, what does it do:
    1) --> 2) --> 3) error --> 2) --> 3) error

On the other hand with quick cast off, you can consider the double tap:
    1) press the hotkey
    2) click on the target (reusing the hotkey will consider you are the target)
    3) If target is wrong, send an error message and return to 2), else go to 4)
    4) spell resolve

No, you CAN'T. There is no second click. Your first click is already failing. Quick cast and double tapping does NOT work. A second click NEVER exists with quick cast.

So again and again ... I know what quick cast do (cast at the position of the cursor). BUT I said .. for self-cast you have to had cursor at your hero (above your hero or at portrait) so when you have only one click and you have to had the cursor above your hero (In most situation selecting your hero isnt fast at all [believe or not]) which is slow you could replace "select" by 2nd click like at regular cast. Just dont look at this like "quick cast = 1 click" but "quick cast = really quick cast which makes your casting faster".

Yeah... I simple have 2 different set-outs (or sometimes I separate my items by slot as to whether it will be a quick cast or not - E.G. my TP scroll always stayed in slot 5, which was a NON-quick-cast hotkeyed slot for me, so I could double tap it).

There is simply no possible way to implement this exactly as you're wanting. By definition each click HAS TO CAST (given mana + cooldown) a skill with quickcast... So, perhaps consider having multiple hotkeys for quickcast and normal cast.

The first press already casts the spell...you can't make the second press cast the spell if you make the first press already cast it by Quick Cast, because Force Staff (and most items) have a cooldown.

You simply don't understand it. There is no second click, you are already casting it after the first click. The game doesn't wait to see if there ever comes a second click as it already is casting the ability

Second click could replace the need to have the cursor above your hero. Is that really too hard to understand this? Everything else is unchanged. Too damn hard to understand ..

    You can't.
Forcestaff, you click once. Due to quick cast, it has to cast. Impossible to click another time because you're already casting. If you have no target, the message has to appear. Adding the possibility here to simply detect double casting after a "fail" message would be stupid as crap.
The only possibility is to add a delay.
Click -> wait for another click -> quick cast (or self cast if another click comes). That delay is stupid to. Something that activates upon a single click isn't ment for double clicking.

Solution: fast double click > normal click OR just add double click (like at regular cast) for self-push is much more easier and faster to avoid someone from your team then select your character with quick cast. Its like .. yea I can move with my cursor across the screen to select my hero .. no problem but holy sh*t I cant avoid my teammate while I am pressing 2x button for self push. And you wanna to complain about random teammate fail pushes (instead of self-push [with quick cast]) but random fail sheep or cyclone with regular cast is OK.

Zero potential .. just fails from unlucky players. I dont wanna sound rude but I think this solution for forcestaff/quick cast is rly stupid.

Thing is, there's huge potential for targeting screwups with double-tap combined with quickcast: either accidental self-casts when trying to target another unit (e.g. if you miss-clicked and need to press the key again) or accidental targeted casts when self-cast was intended.

Everything has both costs and benefits - if you find quickcast inferior then the old system is still available. Or you could do what I do and have both types of binds (using alt-something for binds you seldom use may help if you're running out of keys).

Then tell me your solution how to implement double-click. adding a reaction delay?
