It seems in DotA 2 some DOTS don't remove health pots / clarity pots like I think they do in DotA 1 The two biggest examples i've seen have been Huskar's Burning Spears DOT and Maledict on the enemy, both the damage per sec and the big damage every 4 seconds. Are potions supposed to work while suffering from these spells?

burning spear effect doesn't dispell clarity // hp pots in dota 1
for malediction dot i don't know

Can you explain to me why Burning Spears is not supposed to dispell pots? I haven't played DotA 1 in years but looking at it says it deals magic damage. I know if a skill forces life loss / removal then the potion will still work but I thought all forms of damage remove pots.

Any magic (well, most, it's kinda complicated) damage below 20 points per instance does not dispel pots. This is prior to magic damage reduction. Huskar's spears each count as their own instance, and do a max of 16 damage once per second, so they will never dispel pots.

Pudge's rot is another good example: below the fourth level, it does less than 20 damage per instance (since it damages every .2 seconds), so it also won't dispel. In Dota 2 it doesn't seem to dispel pots even at level 4 (i've heard it does dispel urn though), so it may work slightly differently.

          Ah ok. Thanks.

huskars spears are hp loss not actual damage, so urn/blink/flasks arent triggered by this damage

              • Damage type: magical (target), HP removal (self)
