  • Culling Blade killing blow VS Blade Mail user

Killing blow should remove all buffs from the target before applying damage. But Blade Mail still reflects the damage, so I want to know what is right: BM buff is removed so no damage reflection, or currently it works as intended?

In DotA 1, Culling Blade dealt too much damage for Blade Mail to return (100000000, must be 2-3000), but the "buff" was otherwise unremovable.

That's derp on Valve's part again, since it's currently possible to even kill Axe w/ return damage, get XP for the kill and then die to Culling Blade.

First of all, Blademail can't be removed by Culling Blade, it's a trigger and not an actual buff in dota1 (same with Borrowed Time and Shallow Grave really)

Second, it's NOT a parity with WC3, as explained by imxtrabored.

However it questionable whether it's an intended fix since the old interaction was something of a WC3 limitation.

WC3 engine can't properly do a 'pure' damage. The current pure damage is basically unreduced magic damage, but then magic immunity stops it (there's magic immunity that's not from buff too so just removing buff alone isn't enough), HP loss certainly isn't reduced, but in WC3 it also doesn't have a 'source', so units die via HP loss would've normally result in suicide (there's a code in HP loss skills that basically make it do a burst of damage instead if it's supposed to be a killing blow)
While it's possible to calculate the target's remaining HP and use a skill to do that much (or slightly above) damage, you run into damage reduction passives like Dispersion.

Then there's the case like multiple 'damage reduction' skills stacking up to 'heal' the target (TA's Refraction + Living Armor + Aphotic Shield = lolwat)
Every time someone make a false report.
Making people's losses feel worse with just my name (don't ask me how it work, I certainly don't)

Currently observed Orb(Unique Attack Modifiers), Critical, and Bash interactions for DotA2

People who cry MM isn't fair: Maybe you're not as great as you make yourself to be.
People who wants surrender: It exists, but I'm not teaching you how to do it.
