  • Techies' Land Mines vs Flying Units

    Expected behaviour : flying units don't trigger Land Mines.

    Current behaviour : flying units trigger and take full damage from Land Mines.


    This is especially bad for Visage, since his Familiars lost magic resistance in place for magic immunity, which is ignored by Land Mine's composite damage. Level 3 Familiars almost die from just 1 mine, since they have just 2 base armour.

    Units affected by this :
    Visage's Familiars
    Beastmaster's Hawk


    Special cases (I have no idea how it should interact) :
    Batrider during Firefly
    Phoenix during Icarus Dive

    Phoenix during Icarus Dive is not a flying unit, he gets moved by triggers.
    Bat Rider during Firefly is a flying unit, but in DotA1 specifically coded to still trigger the mines.

    As for flying units triggering mines, it seems to be intended. The dragons from the acnient camps trigger them, too. They don't in DotA1.

      That's because the Dota 2 ancients aren't flying, they're ground units.


      Familiars and Hawks shouldn't trigger the mines, Batrider is the only exception.

        So Bat is like: Hey, I am a flying hero ! but I actually cannot fly ! I can fly over the hills ! But I cant avoid mines !

        Very logical.

        I think Bat should take dmg from the mines (Since a mine explodes in 3D). But he should only trigger them when he is fireflying. (Fire causes mines to explode).

          Also ice heroes should take 2x dmg from fire, timber should 1shot treant since he's just a bigger tree, and all magic should be removed and replaced by something scientific. It's a game, who cares if some things aren't logical from your viewpoint. Bat rider is a normal hero ( not flying) until he uses firefly.

          As for the mines affecting the familiars, I really appreciate if that is an intended change, but I'd like to know whether it is a bug or a change since it changes the matchup between those 2 by a lot since 1 mine usually kills all of the familiars in aoe.
          The world is black and white. On one side there are those who are right, complain about valve, spam unhelpfully and everyone who disapprove what you are doing are obviously valveknights.

            Mines affect familiars in WC3 but they don't get triggered by them.

                The birds should never have gotten their 96% magic resistance removed.. They just melt to composite and universal damage now.
