  • Some passives are still not disabled by Break; is it intended?

I originally posted about this in the main Gameplay Bugs forum, but it should probably be here instead, as whether or not this behavior is intended is still unclear.

In addition to those previously disabled by Doom and/or Hex, the 6.84 patch notes added the following abilities to the list of passives disabled by Break.

    Test Client Update 1:
Aftershock, Counter Helix, Great Cleave, Craggy Exterior, Slardar's Bash, Inner Beast, Dragon Blood, Mortal Strike, Degen Aura, Greevil's Greed, Drunken Brawler, Feral Impulse, Shapeshift's Critical Strike, Chaos Strike, Return, Reactive Armor, Curse of Avernus, Natural Order, Empowering Haste, Spell Shield, Thirst, Marksmanship, Precision Aura, Presence of the Dark Lord, Blade Dance, Coup de Grace, Vengeance Aura, Backstab, Headshot, Take Aim, Psi Blades, Geminate Attack, Lunar Blessing, Moon Glaives, Desolate, Jinada, Geostrike, Essence Shift, Fervor, Arcane Aura, Static Field, Heartstopper, Sadist, Overload, Fiery Soul, Untouchable, Null Field, Gravekeeper's Cloak, Spirit Bear's Entangle and Demolish
    Test Client Update 5:
    Incapacitating Bite
    Test Client Update 7:
Caustic Finale, Phantom Rush, Unstable Current and Moment of Courage

Of these, I have personally tested Presence of the Dark Lord, Desolate, Jinada, Incapacitating Bite, Caustic Finale, Phantom Rush, Unstable Current and Moment of Courage. They are indeed disabled by Break.

I have also tested several other passives that were, according to some guy on Reddit, still not disabled by Break. There may still be other passives not disabled by Break, and the exclusion of the following from the list may be intended, but I can confirm that these are currently entirely unaffected by Break: Venomancer's Poison Sting (from Venomancer himself and his Plague Wards), Riki's Permanent Invisibility, Death Prophet's Witchcraft, Night Stalker's Hunter in the Night, Pudge's Flesh Heap and Meepo's Divided We Stand.

Furthermore, Kunkka's Tidebringer still behaves as it did in 6.83; its cleave is disabled, but the bonus damage is applied and it goes on cooldown. Bounty Hunter's Jinada behaved similarly to Tidebringer in 6.83; its crit was disabled, but the slow was applied and it went on cooldown. However, as suggested by its inclusion in the Test Client Update 1 list, Jinada is now entirely disabled.
I've since uploaded short videos showing their immunity to Break.

    Spoiler:
    Venomancer's Poison Sting

    Riki's Permanent Invisibility

    Death Prophet's Witchcraft

Night Stalker's Hunter in the Night

    Pudge's Flesh Heap

    Meepo's Divided We Stand

Here's one for Tidebringer's partial interaction.

And one for Craggy Exterior's partial interaction.

I should probably note that, in the Meepo video's description, I state that I don't necessarily think that Divided We Stand should be disabled by Break, as it would be quite the nerf. Similar reasoning applies to Wraith King's Reincarnation.

As bu3ny pointed out in another thread, Tiny's Craggy Exterior currently behaves similarly to Kunkka's Tidebringer in that they are both only partially disabled. Tiny loses the chance to stun, but retains the armor bonus. I added a video of my own to my original post.
I wonder what awaits me at the end of everything.

But how sick would it be if when you Agh's Doom the main Meepo, suddenly all his clones disappear.

Have you actually tested the neutral creep abilities when Devoured by Doom? I've tested a few of them, but only by Dooming the creeps themselves.

Also, Break doesn't disable Silencer's Intelligence Steal or Faceless Void's increased movement speed in his own Chronosphere.

^ I don't think innate abilities should count as passives. Also yes, I tried break on the neutrals and on doom after devour.

You may be right, but I posted this thread in the Mechanics & Gameplay Bug Brainstorming forum because so much of this stuff is unclear. I think this particular mechanic could reasonably go either way.

Keeper of the Light and Night Stalker need only Aghanim's Scepter to gain their unobstructed vision. The effects are tied to the item, not to their ultimates; they gain the vision even when their ultimates aren't leveled. They're essentially innate abilities tied to an item, so I think their current immunity to Break is correct.

The update that just dropped seems to have fixed the actives and cleaves that were previously disabled by Break.

                  Dota 2 Update - May 5th 2015
                  • Fixed various bugs related to Break
The cleave from Tiny's Aghanim's Scepter Grow and Kunkka's Tidebringer now function during Break, so those spells are both fully immune.

The bonus armor from Tiny's Craggy Exterior, True Sight vision of enemy heroes below 25% HP from Bloodseeker's Thirst, and guaranteed crit/evasion timer from Brewmaster's Drunken Brawler are now disabled by Break, so those spells are fully disabled.

The lifesteal from Broodmother's Insatiable Hunger and the MS and AS slow from Dragon Knight's level 3 Elder Dragon Form now function during Break, so those spells no longer interact with Break (as actives shouldn't).

Venomancer's Poison Sting, Riki's Permanent Invisibility, Death Prophet's Witchcraft, Night Stalker's Hunter in the Night, Pudge's Flesh Heap, Meepo's Divided We Stand, Shadow Fiend's Necromastery, Tiny's Grow, Viper's Nethertoxin, Outworld Devourer's Essence Aura, Bristleback's Warpath, Lone Druid's Synergy and Wraith King's Aghanim's Scepter Reincarnation Wraith Delay are still fully immune to Break.

Keeper of the Light's and Night Stalker's respective unobstructed day and night vision are also still immune to Break, but as they are tied to Aghanim's Scepter and not any specific ability (neither needs their ultimate to be leveled to gain the vision), I don't think they should be included in any Break list. In fact, I think that rather than saying "they're immune to Break," it would be more accurate to say "they don't interact with Break."

The spells listed here are only the ones I've personally tested and are almost certainly not the only ones changed in this patch.
