Illusions benefiting from armor aura, raw damage

    Illusions can't benefit from raw armor or damage.

    Buy manta and assault cuirass/vlad/damage itens on any hero, use the manta.

    Result:
    Illusions get armor bonus and damage

    Expected:
    Illusions get bonus attack speed but no armor.

    Another example:

    Buy two quarterstaff and manta on any hero and use the manta

    Result:
    Illusions will display +20 damage but no attack speed bonus

    Expected:
    No damage or attack speed bonus

    Now the question. Does the "+" on the damage actually counts to illusions? Because on attack speed it is a flat number. 159 for illus and 179 for the actual hero. In illus we have the + which may be being used to actually show these differences. Anyone know how to do some accurate damage analysis?

    ...well, I don't know if it's that accurate, but you can always do:

    -Pick Morphling
    -Get Manta (28% damage on range hero)
    -Get rapier or whatever flat damage/AS you want to test with.
    -Morph until your base damage is some easy number (100, 150, etc)
    -Use Manta and send your illusion to attack the range lane creep, note its HP.

    IIRC, Illusions in WC3 DotA shows the bonus damage but doesn't actually benefit from any of them.

    Currently observed Orb(Unique Attack Modifiers), Critical, and Bash interactions for DotA2

      Yes i posted it in the brainstorming forums because i'm not sure about the damage part, which is unclear.

      The armor part though definetely is not working as the HUD shows the same physical damage reduction for the actual hero and the illusions. In the case of raw attack speed it shows the correct amount. Again, i didn't put it on the paper but this inconsistency alone is a big evidence.

      Good idea with the morphling, should make the matchcraft a lot easier. Gonna try that.

        For testing Armor:

        Get Manta, since there's no image hero to use yet.
        Get lots of Platemail on the hero.
        Manta, use -createhero (someone) enemy to make an enemy hero to attack your illusion (or use Axe enemy since Helix is physical damage)
        -refresh and drop all the Platemail, repeat and compare

        If all the stats are the same, then you can still report it as visual or tooltip I guess.

        I could test it myself .- . but I'm being lazy today, it's Sunday.

            Illusions still displayed all the stats your hero had when they were created and the stats of any buffs they obtained, doesn't necessarily mean the values were effecting them. If you had an illusion with high bonus armor in WC3 dota it would still display a high reduction % even though in reality it wasn't getting the effect of the armor. It would be much too easy to spot an illusion otherwise. "Oh it has +40 armor but only 20% damage reduction, illusion". As of now you have to at least attack it or let it attack you before you can be certain.

              Everything is working as it should, just tested with morphling.

              I did find a tooltip issue with manta style tho so not everything was wasted time =)

              missed my chance to say "SUCK THAT SlyGoat" hahaa

                    This thread turns up in search for armor auras I guess.

                    Armor auras have been removed in a previous patch, no ETA on when they'll be back. If there isn't any further need for this thread, closing it.
