  • Unit turning during Gust

    Match ID: 2654650749
    Time: 35:55

I watched the replay in slow-mo and Sven is the unit of question. Right before he gets gusted by Drow, he issues an attack-move order right next to Drow which causes him to issue the attack order to Drow. While he gets gusted, Magnus blinks behind him and starts to cast RP. Without any player input, the Sven turns, hits Magnus with a wonderfully timed bash proc, and turns back. The player, then realizing that the game somehow reacted for him, seizes the opportunity to then issue an attack order via right click to attack Magnus. In my opinion, understanding the mechanics of Gust as a "push" that does not disable the unit, Sven should not have turned automatically while being gusted. It should have continued to attempt the last issued order.

That's how attack move works. If there are multiple enemies with the same target priority, it will chose the closest one. It updates frequently. So if Magnus blinked in, he now is the closest target so attack move will cause Sven to attack him now.
    Please, just call me buny.

From Sven's perspective, it creates the red attack reticle around Drow. If I recall correctly, this only happens when the option to attack the nearest target to the click point is enabled. With this option enabled, I've found that once the order is given, the unit will continue to attack the closest unit to the click point until it is dead, stunned, teleported, etc. If this option wasn't enabled, then Sven should have turned and continued to attack Magnus as the closest unit in the attack-move. However, he only turned during the Gust knockback and immediately turned back to face Drow. The player then had to manually tell the unit to attack Magnus to turn and face Magnus once again.
