Does avalanche damage get doubled when you toss still?

Like in dota 1? Also is skill building toss/stun/toss/stun/toss/grow/toss/stun/stun do more damage than stun/toss/stun/toss/stun/toss/stun/toss/grow?

Yes it does get doubled.

And neither of those, 3 Ava then max Toss (so lv 1-5 is Ava-Toss-Ava-Toss-Ava), with Grow at 6-8 (technically any point of these, but Grow at level 6 is probably better due to extra ms), then get lv 4 Ava at lv 9 work better.

I believe that's an old WC3 'glitch', that later got removed and simply Ava is coded to do double damage with Toss.

Currently it's while the target is flying due to Toss, they'll take double damage from Avalanche

short answer to OP's question, yes toss'd units take double damage from avalanche if you ava then toss.

The glitch was waaaaaay stronger than the current, intended behavior. The tossed unit used to get hit by avalanche multiple times, resulting in an instant kill most of the time, even when the target was bulky as hell.
Than it got fixed, but the community wanted it back so badly, because it made tiny really something special, so he coded it so, that the tossed unit gets affected twice.

@OP, I usually go for stun/toss/stun/toss/stun/toss/toss/stun/grow/stats|craggy/grow/etc and ulti on 16.
sometimes i swap toss on lvl7 with grow.

That glitch still happens with Shockwave. If you leave and re-enter the shockwave it will damage you twice, which is what caused Avalanche to damage twice when you tossed, except with Avalanche it's only noticeable when you use Toss - because you can't otherwise leave and re-enter the area while stunned. Unless the other team gets really crafty with repositioning skills. Batrider + Dark Seer with old bugged Avalanche could've been funny, hitting the entire team with ava twice. I wonder if that double damage shockwave will get ported with Magnataur.

Well, it can occurs with Lina's Dragon Slave (saw wodota funny on it) and QoP's Scream too, so if you feel like testing, those are your other options.

I've been away from dota2 for some time, i haven't played dota2 tini in a while... could someone explain something? i've heard that the dota2 tini combo is now effective only if you stun first and ava after (as opposed to dota1). Is this true? RoflCat, Valen, Slygoat?

I have no idea if it's been changed, but as far as I know it should work the same way. Every tick of damage is doubled if the target is being tossed. Since Avalanche has a delay before it hits, Avalanching first optimizes damage output.
