  • Viper's Poison Attack dot lethal?

it is not lethal in dota 1, but it is in dota 2. i was wondering if this is intended or a bug.

    Do you mean venomancer's ulti?

I think it quite literally is referring to Viper's Poisin Attack as the title implies

OP is definitely confusing viper and venomancer here, Venomancer's ult is the only non-lethal damage in the game as far as i know.

Are you guys seriously reading what he posted?

He's clearly stating that there is a difference in mechanics behind Poison Attack between DotA 1 and DotA 2, where in DotA 1 the damage over time from Poison Attack is not lethal whilst it in DotA 2 is lethal.

Yes, everyone understand that, except Viper's Poison Attack has always been lethal damage.

Venomancer's Poison Sting became lethal in 6.58

I checked the official changelog back until 6.48 and nowhere on there does it mention Poison Attack type changed to be lethal, and the hero page doesn't say it's non-lethal.

The auto active poison of Viper is lethal, end of subject, working as intended

I really don't think Robzor understands everyone. We know that he is talking about Viper's poison attack(which has been lethal since forever) This is why we are asking him if he has confused viper with venomancer.

uhm am i the only one thinking that viper's orb is NOT lethal in dota1?
his passiv poison skin is lethal tho. correct me if im wrong.

edit: i just tested in dota1. it is NOT lethal as i thought.
it would be rly nice if u check your facts before posting cuz spreading false facts is not rly constructive for this forum. (this goes esp to mataur again)

Except that the damage from Poison Attack never has been lethal.

I happen to have just a slight share of insight in the mechanics of DotA 1 and Warcraft 3 in general, and upon being asked by wutwat about if there was any differences I ran tests for base abilities through the Warcraft 3 World Editor, in-game tests with DotA 1 and in-game tests with DotA 2 just to make sure the references were as good as possible.

The base ability provided by the Warcraft 3 World Editor does per default not deal lethal damage and no alterations have been made to make it lethal, just as the one for Poison Nova does not deal lethal damage.

so much fail in this thread. refer to lucky.one's and robzor's posts, ignore the rest.

also this explains why viper felt a bit stronger than in dota1 i guess
