  • SF Quickrazes

I think anyone who has extensively played SF in Classic DotA will notice a change in the speed of razes in succession.

Are there any plans to change the speed of razes in Dota2?

Are you cancelling the animation? I don't feel a difference at all. You might not be able to do a "double-tap" animation cancel, but I was under the impression that was included for continuity - I've not tested it though.

I guess someone could concevibly check his cast animation times in the data files, but I think he's the same.

Yeah it's that "double-tap" animation you're referring to.

However, I don't think that it's included in Dota2. Either that or I just don't know how to raze anymore. The Z raze feels especially slow.

You can hit stop or issue a move order after the last raze goes off to quickly raze again. I'd like the double-tap raze to be included, but it's a relic of the WC3 engine and might just be intended, assuming it doesn't work.

              quick razes are already implemented

just razing one after the other results in quick razes.

Can someone please explain to me what this "double-tapping" you're talking about is? I'd really like to know

                  I'll try to explain briefly.

There are two parts to the animation of many spells in dota, the first part that is actually needed to cast the spell (you can press s to cancel this animation and prevent the spell from going off) and a backswing that goes on after the spell is cast. This backswing is essentially wasted time. In dota 2 it can be canceled by issuing a new command. This is very easy to see with some spells, such as scream of pain (which is instant cast but has a backswing that you can cancel). In dota 2, if you cast a near raze and then spam a medium raze, they will go off one after the other. In dota 1, you needed to actually double tap the razes to get this same effect.

so zz xx cc in dota 1

Thanks, but I still don't get why the double-tap in DotA.

After the first z to cast the raze why would you press it again? Isn't the first raze on cooldown and pressing it again will just pop up a message that it's on cooldown? I don't see what that does... sorry for bothering I just want to understand

Quoting an old thread on gosu:

Those who think you can just zxc are wrong.

1 complete shadowraze takes 1.07 second, 0.76 second for shadowfiend of pre-casting animation (raising his hands), and 0.40 second of post-casting animation (lowering his hands, which is subdivided into 2 parts, first a 0.25 second for lowering his hand, followed by a 0.15 second pause to the next raze). So zxc takes 2.81 seconds to complete.

The correct way is to press zzxxxc as stated by #12 which helps cancel all post-casting animations perfectly, keeping the timing for the 3 razes to 2.05 second.

Methods like clicking the ground rapidly while razing only cancels part of the post-casting animation (2 x 0.25s), resulting in a timing for 2.55 second for the 3 razes.

For those who want a complete analysis of how to cast the perfectly timed shadowrazes you have to visit this threads which is in chinese unfortunately http://bbs.replays.net/showtopic-2057288.aspx
