  • [Intended] Sniper assassinate dodging with invis

    When I say invis, I'm talking about SK Sand Storm. In DotA 1, you were able to dodge assassinate with SK by casting Sand Storm while the Assassinate projectile was still in mid air. I've tried to do this at least twice recently against a Sniper and it's worked neither time. Is this a bug, or am I wrong about something here?

    I'm sure I've read that in Dota2 you get sight until the projectile hits, rather than until the end of the channel. You can still disjoint with blinks though.

      Unfortunately I reformatted and don't have WC3 installed to test and confirm, but would this be considered a bug or intentional?

        If I did indeed read what I remember reading then it would be intentional. Hopefully someone else has the source as I can't for the life of me remember if it was a patch not or a dev forum post.

          Going invis while the projectile is midair doesnt help by itself in Dota 1 (that only works for blinks). Only if you go invis and the backswing is completed (or animation gets cancelled) before the bullet hits, because then the true sight ends. In D2 a developer said they make the true sight last until the projectile really hits

            Sniper assasinate is a pseudo-true sight in D2:
            You see any invi hero while the animation takes place(you "load" the rifle).After you fire the true sight is lost->if the hero is still in invi dodge will occure afaik.

              Thanks for the response, this makes sense. I guess you won't ever be able to dodge it with invisibility any more in Dota 2.

                Sniper is almost never used, and his only early game killing skill is already hard countered by Blinks and Euls... it would totally kill him if every 100hp Riki could just avoid his ultimate without doing anything

                Simple and obvious things that should get fixed/added asap: SCOREBOARD, Ingame friend list, Different Ping for Roshan, Add Notes to Players, Accept Button while tabbed
