Dragon tail specifies on the spell itself it gets additional range if you're in dragon form. It's the same spell, that has additional effects based on your form. In the case of Kotl, you get a different version of the spell. To me it's consistent with other similar stuff where you get the improved version of the spell, like Exorcism or Toss.

got another addition, which might not be a passive per se:
stealing illuminate steals the normal- or the spirit-version of the spell
imho it would be more consistent, if illuminate would be stolen and used as either normal or spirit-version of the spell depending on rubick being in spirit form or not.
so basically similar to edf and dragon tail.

one concern is, that spirit-illuminate is really strong and there is a reason, why ezalor himself has only 40 seconds to use it.
a rubick would have up to 300 seconds with it.

Grow, Necromastery, and Greater Bash apply no bonus in DotA. Neither do the abilities that apply no bonus in Dota2 - and those ones make sense to not be upgraded, since they aren't direct upgrades to any particular ability. EDF is irrelevant because you can't steal transformation abilities in DotA.

Another one that might be different in Dota2 is Shadow Dance when Slark is added. In DotA, stealing Shadow Dance would only give you the unbreakable stealth, not the passive regeneration or movement speed. Not sure if "spell" steal stealing passive benefits makes sense, but they were a part of the base ability for Slark, not a separate ability.

I made a thread about it a while ago but it didn't get much attention

It's just Synergy and Multicast ignite AoE that don't act as would be logical/consistent.

I thought of 2 more but they seem to work correctly, or at least consistently, if you steal dragon form then steal the stun it stuns at long range as expected(but not if you steal it and use it while you don't have dragon form yourself, the tooltip specifies it only gets increased range in dragon form so seems fine to me). The other one was Toss and Grow, Rubick steals the amplified version of Toss if Tiny has levels in Grow and does the same dmg, so seems fine too.

Skill WC3 Dota Dota 2 "Consistent"
Witchcraft reduced cd, mana for cs, more ghosts with exorcism reduced cd, mana for cs, more ghosts with exorcism as in dota 2
Synergy no change to spells no change to spells rapid should have longer duration, bear should have boni
Multicast Cooldowns change, no ignite aoe, no mc Cooldowns change, no ignite aoe, no mc ignite aoe should be increased
Grow ? enhanced version of toss as in dota 2
EDF ? when stealing stun it is close range/ranged depending on rubick being edf as in dota 2
Necromastery ? Rubick steals Shadowraze for the current soul count of SF as in dota 2
Greater Bash ? Level of Bash applies on all other spells as in dota 2
Phantom Edge ? no bonus is applied as in dota 2
Fiery Soul ? no bonus is applied as in dota 2
Overload ? no bonus is applied as in dota 2
Static Field ? no bonus is applied as in dota 2
Spirit Form ? illumate gets stolen in the form, in which ezalor previously cast it illumate gets stolen and rubick can use a version of it depending on being in spirit form himself or not

    do we have any more?

Synergy quite clearly says it increases the duration of Rabid for one, and not even Rabid has its duration increased when stolen, even though logically this would change the spell in the exact same way as Witchcraft does.
In my opinion, Synergy should buff stolen Lone Druid spells, and stealing Ignite should have its AoE effect stolen as well. That's what would make sense to me as those are all passive increases, they are not separate effects like Multicast that trigger independently.

Whether it's consistent with DotA or not, it should at least be consistent between different abilities.

In the case of Syllabear, you don't get any of the bonus from Synergy to his bear, you simply summon a basic lvl 4 bear. This is slightly inconsistent because in the case of death prophet, the tooltip for her ultimate isn't changed when you level up exorcism, it doesn't say it summons more ghosts. Yet when you steal it, you do get more ghosts too.

    Hey!

I'm not sure if anyone have tested this. But how does Rubick work in Dota1 when he steals, for example, Carrion Swarm (or Exorsism ultimate) when witchcraft has levels?
Will Rubick get the benefits from witchcraft (e.g. cooldown, manacost, number of ghosts) even if he doesn't got witchcraft? Or will he get the spell without those properties?
Working...
