  • Rubick and transformations?

Since Rubick got alot of intened changed from DotA to DOTA2 I just wanted to ask why Rubick keeps his own attack range when changing into another form. Shouldn't Lycan Ult, Dirge Ult and Sylla Ult turn you melee? and dragon Knight Ult turn you 500 range instead of 600? Just wanted to know if this is really intended since it's kinda weird.

Most of these don't have an innate range specifiec in the transformation so they're not supposed to make you into melee. Lycan is a melee and his ult leaves the range as is, which is why rubick still retains his full range. In the case of Syllabear, his ult says you lose your ranged and you actually do on Rubick too when you steal it, you can't attack from range in bear form. The only one that's inconsistent is dragon form. The spell specifies you gain 372range, yet when stealing it you do not gain any range, you stay at your normal attack range. I assume that's on purpose as a balancing fix since it'd give Rubick exceptional range(which it used to on test server until it was fixed, thus why I think it's intended).

So unless the transformation specifies something, then Rubick retains his original charasteristics. Seems normal to me.
