    I could make another video too. I've seen furion sprout people about 400 units further than he should be able to, even when he doesnt have haste, and they didnt even touch the supposed sprout range. IMO this is a major bug that needs to be looked into.

  • Difference in casting range when moving at higher speeds vs standing still

    So I think this might have been discussed a few times especially about melees, but it seems to happen everything. When you target a moving target while you're moving in the same direction, your effective range is increased. Now I know there's a motion buffer in dota, however my understanding of it is that buffer is only used during the cast time of an ability, if you start casting at the normal expected range, then you will finish casting as long as the target stays within the buffer distance(which is 300 in dota if my google-fu is correct but irrelevant).

    The issue here is that you start casting even when you're not actually in range. So I made a small video to show this. First I cast Ensnare from naga siren on another siren(same speed) standing still and setup a dota_range_display of 650(intended naga ensnare range). You can see how the circle fit more or less to where the ensnared naga is, it goes almost further than the target naga. This is maximum range. However in the 2nd part of the video, you see the same situation when moving in the same direction, both with boots of travel. I manage to start casting(and finish casting) a net that's about 100-150units further than it should be, since the target naga is outside the circle when she had to be inside the circle before.

    Now maybe my understanding of the motion buffer is wrong but I'm not sure that's how it's supposed to work.
