  • Gyrocopter homing missile speed

Here is little comparision from dota1
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=nH6I97SwGFQ#t=07m42s
    to dota2
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7G9bpQIqb8

As u know map in dota2 is smaller than dota1 because of that i think homing missile speed in dota2 should be increased since it mby not visible for other players but as i played a lot of gyrocypter in dota1 its serious nerf for me since chasing hero for example with phase is impossible since he can reach tower in dota 2 much faster than in dota1 and missile cant gain speed so fast because of small map. tell me what u think about it
btw in that video is only shown small run of riki since he had only normal boots and he wasnt runing from max range cast rocket but he was next to it when it started so you cant see too much more distance run by riki in comparision

and sry for my english i know i sux

i was a bit baffled myself, when my homing missile didnt reach the enemy yet even after he had passed his third tower already.

not really sure how to deal with this. as the map will most likely not be rescaled and changing the speed of the missile will have other balance implications.

Well the speed might be wrong, especially the acceleration. When it's at topspeed it seems fine, but it takes a very longtime to reach topspeed.

First thing is boots. Can you re-do either in dota 1 with boots or dota 2 without boots? You can see in your dota 1 video (briefly) at 8:12 that riki only has a bottle

Holy my, but that's just about the answer to why is it so hard to play Gyro nowadays. You sir are my savior, I can just pretend that it's bugs and not my horrible, horrible Gyro what's causing me to lose oh so many games.
Heroes this user should seriously reconsider ever picking again.

Wow great... I also felt the missile was missing something.

Ok here's a video, you can see a small difference in acceleration. Both are max castable range, in dota1 invoker gets hit slightly earlier. I wanted to do longer range test but they're a bit more random since missile has such a short cast range. Still when I was testing around, at 3200range(max invoker tornado range, I'd run invoker in range of missile then run back to the spot I knew was 3200 based on where I was hitting tornado with), missile would hit first in dota1 and about a second later in dota2.

so from your test it seems even acceleration speed is different and here i thought it is all about the map size

Well the map size being slightly different is only an issue when you use the map itself as a measure of distance(for example how long it takes for missile to reach from one barracks to another). If you use stuff such as skill range(distance at which tornado hits for example), it should be similar in both games because it scales the units. In this case, and unless for example in dota2 you can cast from further range, it shows there's a difference in timing.

I more so got the feeling the difference lied in base speed looking at that video, rather than acceleration.
The speed is definitely off though, for sure. This should be moved out of brainstorming section.
