  • [Confirmed] Question about denying allied heroes

Misspelled "question" in the thread title Oh well...

There seems to be a lot of misinformation or outdated information floating around, so is there any way I can get a definitive answer that my testing is correct:

Spells that allow A-Click denying of allies:
    Venomancer's Venomous Gale
    Queen of Pain's Shadow Strike
    Doom's Doom

Spells that allow denying of allies by the damage they do:
    Bloodseeker's Bloodrage
    Bane's Nightmare

Spells that are often said to allow allied hero denying but actually don't work in Dota2 during my testing with cheats on and what not:
    Venomancer's ult or passive
Viper's Viper Strike, with or without Aghanim's
    Warlock's Shadow Word
    Silencer's Curse of the Silent

Spells that allow you to deny yourself:
    Alchemist Unstable Concoction
    Pudge Rot

Sorry if this is a repost, I did a search for hero deny and looked through the 10 pages of results and didn't find one that seemed to be the same topic.

    All correct.

However, Viper strike and Shadow word should make an ally deniable. If they aren't then this is a bug.

Curse of the Silent is a peculiarity. It is supposed to allow denies as well, but when I checked it some time ago on 6.74 it doesn't work.

Only Venomous gale allows denies, veno's passive and ult do not.

Lord of Avernus's Death Coil, when he comes in, also allows self-deny.

I'm pretty sure viper strike don't allow ally deniable (in dota1 at least), I will test it.
I will also check if the heal of shadow word allow deny (I remember that at some point it did in dota1)

      edit:
In my test, the heal part of shadow word wasn't allowing to deny in dota1, and viper strike did allow to deny in dota1
But in dota2, I didn't achieved to deny an unit with viper strike, nor an unit with shadow word (damaging one, not healing one)

So we might have some bug to report ^^

The heal portion of shadow word allowing denies is a very old bug in Dota 1, and was also fixed a long time ago.

If you could check Curse of the Silent as well, I would appreciate it. Its possible I messed up the test before.

Curse of the silent is deniable in dota 1. Can't confirm dota 2 though

EDIT: Nevermind! It used to be atleast? I couldn't do it, but maybe cause I was trying to deny myself.

I've never known curse to work, maybe when it was single target? Also add battle hunger to the list of can't be denied :P.
I don't ever remember denying from Shadow Word, but I do believe you can deny viper strike.

                this needs an update.

                http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=75275

apparently viper strike and cots are not deniable anymore. (needs to be tested though)

^no, u cant deny battle hunger
                    --------
currently the only problem is shadow word not deniable, while the rest is just fine.

I saw a d2 guide that showed Slark can deny himself (not sure, think it was a dota cinema mythbuster).

It was on mythbusters, but you need some sort of damage amp placed on you (orchid or soul catcher)
why are you still playing ranked?
