  • Lame item drop system and seriously bad win/lose scoring

I just played a game where a guy left after maybe 10-15 minutes and in the end he was the only one who got an item and a rare one too.
I mean, what kind of a lame game are you running here Dota 2 devs? I know this is a beta, but even in beta there should be some kind of logic.

Also, I had 2 leavers in my team and then the 3rd one left near the end, and even though I stayed, the game was still scored as lost for me.
So let me get this straight: you leave a game that is safe to leave and you're basically home free, but if you stay for the sake of the game and lose (and you most probably will) you get 1 lost added to your stats anyway. Are you kidding me?? No seriously, if this is a joke someone better let me know because I could use a good laugh.

You reward a leaver, while punishing those who stayed? Nice job, good one.
I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I'm really disappointed by this blatant lack of common sense in both cases.

well, only players in low priority pool wont have the chance to receive items and battle points. usually if u dont leave games too frequently(like less than twice a week), u wont get into low priority. the rarity of items is even more irrelavent. it's just luck.
it is sad to have leavers on ur side, but as long as the game stats will be recorded, a loss is a loss(of course u can manage to win the game). it does matter whether u leave right away or stay till the end of the game. the outcome is the SAME(i assume u lost, but just remember that u can still win).

Safe to leave the game =/= Game will not count. Safe to leave the game just means anyone can leave without receiving an abandon. Game still counts, if your team pulls off the victory 4v5, you get the win, and the other team gets the loss. The abandoned teammate gets a loss no matter what though, and possibly goes into Low priority. I believe the rule is if someone abandon's really early in the game (within first 5 minutes) and there are no first bloods and such, there will be a message that "Stats will not be recorded for this game", that's when there is no win or loss.

As for the items, it's random, live with it. They don't specifically choose to throw a rare at a leaver. I know last time I played we all did good but I had a mega noob on our team who just practically through the game. He ended up being the only player getting an item and it was a rare as well. Whatever, it's just cosmetic, it doesn't really matter.

Well, thanks for putting my mind at ease as far as safe-to-leave goes. I'm glad I was wrong about that.
But the item drop system still leaves much to be desired. I can understand a noob getting an item because he stayed, but not leaver.
Even if the leaver is long overdue to get an item, it's still wrong and it sends the wrong message.
This way, it's like an incentive to leave, not stay. If you know that your chances to win an item are the same no matter if you left or stayed, then if you are a bad player you're most likely to leave and not fight until the end.
I always say to those who say "first time dota" or "first time this hero" to practice with bots, that's what they're for.
Ruining the game for others just because you're not familiar with it is not an excuse when you have a learning section AND bot games to hone your skills in.
But such item drop system only encourages them not to give a damn about whether they leave or stay.
I hope you understand what I mean.

I agree that people who leave the game shouldn't get items. Even though it doesn't really matter in the long run, it's a matter of principle.
