  • Techies and the 2minutes countdown before the 1st wave of creeps

In -ap mode in Dota1, if you picked techies during the 10 first seconds, you could buy tp/clarities and have the time to set 3/4/5 mines before anything crossed the river. With Dota2, you only have 1 minute to do so, preventing you to get a first blood with this strategy.
Will it be changed, if not, how will it impact Techies gameplay. (lvling suicide lvl 1?)

hmmm. I believe its 1 min u got in dota 1 u can barely get 4 mines off before creep wave comes u had to pick techies fast and tp off the bat to get 4 mines. i think this strat will be still in dota 2 u just get 1 min picking phase and 1 min for the game to start

In dota 2 if you insta-pick a hero you have to wait to buy your items and then go to the lanes, while in Dota 1 if you insta-picked a hero, you will spawn inmediatly, granting you several seconds in favour in case you are techies, im not sure if this is intended.

In dota2, you have 1 min of hero selection but you can't play it until the minute is gone, letting you only 1 minute to set up mines.
In dota1, you have 10 sec to enter the mode, then you can instapick Techies and have 2 minutes to do eveything you wanted.

I don't understand why you have to wait 1 minute in dota2 to play your hero, even if you pick it second 0. It had no incidence (or almost) before, but for techies it kinda secures a FB if well played.

Hmm.. perhaps it is better this way (Dota2)?

You get to see what your team has picked instead of insta-picking then going your way, your allies don't know what items you bought, they don't know if you are going jungle Axe or whatever Axe. If you picked windrunner or other powerful carries or support heroes they wouldn't know which direction you are heading into.

Don't get me wrong i loved 1st blooding with techies. But i think this way it has more advantages than disadvantages.

Something just came into my mind... know the strategy where you lay bombs in probable places to get easy kills lvl 1-6 and then gank?
... couldn't some1 doing this plan receive an AFK penalty if he doesn't get any kills? lol

maybe techies will be the only hero allowed to spawn before the picking phase is over.
                  that would be HUGE!

I never liked the way it is on Dota 2 anyway... Why are we waiting for 55 minutes even if we've picked within 5 seconds?

Has anybody had issues when the game began that way? I can't even say one thing against it...
We could see what was going on in game. What our teammates were planning to do.
Naix with QuellingBlade and StoutShield = he's going to farm nc.
Pudge with a bottle = although I would never recommend starting with a bottle, he definitely wants to go mid with that.
Any hero with a courier = I don't have to bother buying a courier for the team, and may pick accordingly.
And we could see who is going to which lane, and which lane is going to be left to us, in case we are the last picker of the team.

Even when the 1 minute is over, the player who hasn't picked yet must ask his teammates through chat to know who is on which lane, and which lane he will have to play on.

                    This impacts the gameplay.
I can't find a single aspect to justify the current system. Even putting taverns back to the top left corner would be better.
I would suggest making a toggle to to make the pick screen appear and disappear.
And then I remembered this thread wasn't about this stuff... Sorry for the derail. Please hold your arguments about this for another thread.

YEAH we should be able to play as soon as we pick our hero. It definitely has an impact on the gameplay, not just for techies. But for techies, it is even more crucial.

fyi there are some very nice suggestions about the heropicker there. some might be solving the problems you pointed out, should they be implemented.

I guess the same goes for a lvl1 rosh attempt, it is probably much much more difficult now. It's an indirect nerf to techies for sure.

I have just had a glance at them... Man, they are even more horrible. Why are they overcomplexicating things?

Will it be ok for me to tag my thread with [Suggestion] there by myself? I don't think they are granted to the individual threads by mods there.

I have been thinking about this too. Curios to know how this will be fixed if it would ever be fixed.
There is no point on waiting the full time.

A bigger problem with teachies would be spectating a game with him and being able to watch were all his mines are.
