  • [Intended] Assassinate hitting invisible units

Ok. Let me start: I'm not even sure what the bug is, but there's something wrong here, that I'm sure.

    Here's the problem: dota2://matchid=49068437&matchtime=924
    watch it on slow motion.

    What happens is this:
    -Sniper uses Assassinate on Invoker
    -Invoker invokes Ghost Walks
-Sniper's Assassinate projectile starts travelling towards Invoker
    -Invoker uses Ghost Walk
    -Assassinate kills Invoker.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the vision over the target that Assassinate grants is (should be) removed once the projectile starts travelling.
I also believe Ghost Walk has no fade time.

I checked and Invoker wasn't tracked.
So how and why did Assassinate hit Invoker?

From what I've seen in the Combat Log, it appears that the Assassinate debuff is removed when the projectile impacts the target rather than when it starts travelling. (if this is the problem then I believe it's not working as intended)

Still, I'm not entirely sure what went wrong here, so please, help me out on figuring this one, guys.

Are you implying that Sniper should be unable to kill people with his ult if they stealth after it's cast? I don't think that would make much sense. Instead of running from him, why not turn around and use one of many abilities you have as Invoker to cancel Sniper's ult?

That's not the point. In dota 1 you were able to dodge it if you blinked or turned invisible as it travelled, just as you can do with VS stun.

In Dota 1 the true sight ends when the sniper backswing animation is finished. So unlike blink, you could dodge only if you were really far away (>1250 units) and the true sight ended before the projectile hits (or if sniper cancels his animation). Simple turning invis while midair also didnt work in dota 1 (unlike blink).

However in Dota 2 the true sight is maintained until the projectile hits, therefore invis can never dodge sniper ulti in dota 2. This is intended and on the inted fix list (confirmed by developer)

          I see.
That's weird though, I'm pretty sure I've dodged it before (way earlier in the beta) with Mirana's Ulti (Kind of like accidentally doding it though)
Do you happen to know when was this change applied to dota 2 or if it was like that from the beginning?
