  • [Forum suggestion] New known bugs list sorted on heroes (and not how severe they are)

What do you guys who hang out here on daily basis think about this? One advantage with this is that it hopefully will see how affected a hero is by bugs. If we take Juggernaut as an example. He got several bugs which on their own might be minor but combined holds him back. This might also help the devs to start making some of the heroes bug free instead of taking one here and one there. However this would lead to some more work (copy & paste) and maybe we have to update two lists at once if we don't find this format superior to the current. So what are your opinion?

    someone already did this once.
i dont think it's viable with the current size of the buglist though.

if someone really has that much time to spare, he can just implement a nice bug tracker instead.

How would we manage bugs that involve two or more heroes?

I think the idea is nice, but can be very hard to implement. Maybe using "tags" for every bug?

I did it once. I placed the bugs involving more then one hero under the spell that caused the bug and stuff. Sadly, the devs have their own list so it doesn't really matter what the list looks like.

Rather instead of grouping I would like to see new sub-forum in gameplay bugs or somewhere on the forum for all incorrect and duplicate threads (it would be like a trash can for threads) so they wouldn't overflood this section.

Scrolling for threads would be faster and additionaly to that incorrect and duplicate would be still accesible by search function.

1st. Not proper bugreport - read stickies...
            More like brainstorm section.

            2nd:

Wiener work was great, but almost the same effect could be achieved, if we just name every entry on list always with both hero & skillname, and make it as verbose as possible (for easier searching per-hero, not only skill names) (but then there are problem with bugs-list-interactions (like this, or this, or this, or this, or this).

Also revamps of list format ain't that popular, I know it for fact, and since there are no proof that devs even watch it (aside from newly emerging topics), or that it would speed anything up, I don't know is there sense in spending resources (time) towards changing it.

On the other hand actual priorities are weird in some cases.

There are "moderate" bugs who don't appear frequently, and there are Low prio bugs like:
L 54 | ['12.07.08] Shadow Poison revealing too much FoW
Which appears in every SD game (quite popular in proscene lastweek)

There is also this big (in my opinion) issue which is "Other"
            ['12.07.10] Discrepancies in attribute gain
            which is happening every day.

            --

From my perspective, the only things you can do, to really speedup bugfixes are:
            - convince some pro to abuse bug in competitive scene..
            - make big thread about it on reddit
            - pm devs
but above works only for forcing some bugs before others, not changing amount of them being fixed.

The only real thing to speed this up is:
            - reserve more time for testday to lower amount that comes to main client

From my experience bugs have like 90% chance of being fixed on test day, like 60% for first week after, but after that they will lie here for months.

            @Rysik
I remember we discussed idea of subforum few months ago but meh, idea died. (personally I think it would be better for confirmed threads, and maybe another for some archive, but once again - who really cares about this)

lately the bug fixes have been more comprehensive.
i dont think that your statistics apply to the last weeks, adrian.

I hope they're not! I was collecting them in middle of 2012, up until few moment past TI2; I had super plan to launch some small automated script for competition 'who had most fixed bugreports', but I lost interest and spare time for this.

Last week looked awesome! and I hope it's because of more people in Valve dedicated to fixes, but I'll hold my judgment.

What about promoting the Hero [ Skill ] Description (should/shouldn't) format or something amongs those lines for new bug reports?

The developers have been mostly happy with the format so far (though I am not). So I am wary of implementing new formats or systems that may interfere with how they collect bug reports. A legible description in the OP of each report thread + a [Confirmed] tag is all they really want, the known bugs list more of a set of records for us.
Always read and follow the forum rules. If you need help from a moderator, use the report button ()
                    Before posting new bugs:
-Check the Known Bugs List and search the forum for an existing report.
-Make sure its a bug (test in WC3 Dota, visit playdota guides and adv. mech, etc). If you're still not sure, post in Mechanics and Gameplay Bug Brainstorming instead.
-Read the Bug Posting Guidelines on how to report a bug properly.

i think noya's suggestion is meant to be about the list's format.
it is hard to search for some bugs sometimes. so it would be nice to have hero- and skillname in them if applicable.
i tried to add the latest bugs according to that format to the sticky and it wasn't too cluttered imho.
however i would prefer shorter threadtitles too.
