blizzard's and valve's bugs are all really just bad for gameplay. icefrog's tend to play pretty well, exactly like this overpower thing. to a point the game is even built around them.

it's impossible to say if the current meta is so terrible because of the "bugs" that were fixed or those that were introduced by valve but it's easy to argue that it is so.

Most of them seem to be "in DotA there was additional behaviour that is unmentioned in the skill", for example: http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=74129 The skill doesn't mention it, it's only considered a bug because it's different to DotA. Other things include poorly coded skills such as Rikimaru's backstab, and engine limitations such as orbs on ww attack. Some things would require extra work to implement (for example pulling heroes from Tusks' ball using Pudge's hook), but are marked as bugs.

It's actually pretty disappointing to think "back in WC3 we did all this work to avoid these bugs, and yet now the game runs in a different engine and the same limitations are being imposed". It's such a missed opportunity to make DotA2 an exact clone of DotA, but with cuter graphics.

Kinda misses the "search if already posted" part to prevent 20 duplicates when it gets reported the first time, ppl reading it, telling other ppl which might then create another duplicate after hearing of "that bug".

this is how you should look at every mechanic in dota 2 right now

x -> is it identical to wc3 dota? -> if not, is it listed as a bug? -> if not, is it in the intended changes list? -> if not, post bug report

    started a topic Re-implementing DotA 1 bugs?

    Re-implementing DotA 1 bugs?

I see a lot of the known bugs are actually bugs in DotA 1, that do not exist in DotA 2. An example would be "manual cast orb attacks triggering on-attack events" or "Ursa's Overpower not ticking on miss". WC3 has no native detection for manually cast attack modifiers, and has no call-backable hit detection engine, which is why the behavior existed in that manor. Yes, it is possible to code one, but DotA 1 was not very advanced and was limited by the engine.

Is it official policy to replicate everything about DotA 1?

Some restrictions were obviously replicated for balance reasons, for example not being able to have multiple buffs on one attack (eg no frost arrows and life steal and poison orb). Where as others are "known bugs" when the original was clearly a bug (eg Windrunner's focus being blocked by spellsheild - the original ability in DotA 1 has bugged behavior).

It's a bit confusing to see something listed as a "known bug" when it does exactly what is described by the ability, but it's different to what the DotA 1 ability does.
