  • [Parity] Armlet on Spirit Bear

    After testing on WC3, I am pretty sure that Spirit Bear is not supposed to be getting Attack Speed from an activated Armlet. When Armlet is unactivated, if I hover over the bear's attack to get the tooltip, the speed text is green, indicating that there is bonus attack speed from something. If I activate it, however, the text is grey. Additionally, it looks to me as though he attacks about the same with and without an activated Armlet.

    Due to the weird inconsistency between an active and inactive Armlet, I'm not sure if this is intentional in WC3.

    At no point did I cast Rabid.

    ---

    Also, he definitely was not getting the +8HP Regen regardless of whether it was active or inactive

    It's a cool thing in dota2, hope it stays.

      The bear should get all extras from an active armlet, apart from the strength and the negative regen. The only difference to Dota 2 is, that (afaik) the bear can't toggle it in Wc3 himself.
      If you think I've closed or deleted a post unjustified, feel free to PM me and I'll explain it to you/discuss it with you further.

        The claims are true for DotA;
        - 8 bonus HP regeneration (A0PU)
        - 25% bonus attack speed (A0TC)
        - Armlet Effect (A0UK)

        are granted as additional abilities through the map script only if the item in question is the "Armlet of Mordiggian" (active one) (I00M)
        8 bonus HP regeneration is granted for the "Armlet of Mordiggian" (inactive one) (I00Q) aswell

        Additionally, another trigger deducts 40 HP from the bearer of the "Armlet of Mordiggian" (active one) (I00M) every 1 second, until some stuff happens...

        Unlike I00M, the "Armlet of Mordiggian (Courier Edition)" (active one) (I00N) grants nothing additional. It only gives the bearer the inherent abilities of the item, which are;
        - 5 bonus armor (AId5)
        - 25 bonus strenght (A00I) becomes useless on a unit that does not have str
        - 40 bonus damage (A03L)

        There is no trigger to grant any additional abilities for this item, or the inactive one (I00R).
        Inherent abilities are actually the same for both the (Courier Edition) ones and the regular ones, except the regular ones have one more active ability used for conversion between active and inactive.

        So, just as TomatoBisque said, Bear shall never get 8 bonus HP regeneration from Armlet, and also shall not get 25% bonus attack speed from an activated Armlet.

          I really don't get why people consider the whole armlet bear thing to NOT be a bug. Because it gets replaced with the courier edition, it's OBVIOUS that it's unintended and that the armlet working by putting it on the bear while activated is an oversight by Icefrog.

            So 1 year after, I realize they over-fixed it. I'm so sad right now

            Regen stays the same at WC3 (activated or not), and I couldnt notice an increase in Attack Speed when activating/deactivating it.

            Althought I'm really happy with the current interaction, this should be adressed (and confirmed as a bug).

            Well, the "bug" people usually claim is "bear should get the degen with activated Armlet", which is Incorrect.

                Someone has to manually open a thread in the gameplay bugs section, typically mods don't move threads from brainstorming to bugs.

                  i still dont see why this would be confirmed.
                  the active mordigans is possible in wc3 dota and if understand appelsins post correctly, the effects are identical to those in dota 2.
                  mordigans is most likely not toggleable on spirit bear in wc3 dota because the original item gets removed and another item get added to the inventory of the unit when toggling the original item.
                  it is a bit more complicated to allow that behaviour on a secondary unit, i guess.

                  is toggling possible on zet's clones?
                  is toggling possible on meepo's clones?
                  can you toggle pt on spirit bear?

                    There is no issues about items being usable on units... Really, no such thing, let's just delete our posts, that is way too wrong of an information, don't want that to get spread even a bit, also last 3 questions are too stupid, sorry, but they are, feel free to delete mine, but also do it to yours
                    I will make a detailed summary for every 4 item tomorrow, there is a big, way too big difference

                      blash, the short version is you may have misread. The actual item Armlet of Mordiggian (active) in DotA 1 grants 40 damage, 5 armor, and 25 strength. When this item is held by a hero, it is changed to its "normal version," which has triggers that grant 25 attack speed, 8 hp regen, 40 hp degen, and the Armlet particle effect. When this item is held by a non-hero, it is changed to its "courier version," which cannot toggle (intended fix) and grants the normal 40 damage, 5 armor, and 25 strength. However, the additional 25 ias, 8 hp regen, 40 hp degen, and Armlet particle (changed as probable intended fix) are not granted for the courier edition.

                      The bug is that the Spirit bear gains 25 attack speed and 8 hp regen, unlike in DotA 1.

                      Also, for the record:
                      Zet clones are actually heroes and not illusions (I don't know what happens to exp they gain), so their interactions are the same as heroes.
                      Meepo clones can't hold Armlet, but toggling it on the main Meepo updates their bonus strength accordingly.
                      Power Treads are togglable on Spirit Bear; they are not changed to a neutered version. Obviously, toggling does nothing for the Bear, however.

                        ok, so despite the tooltip the courier edition in wc3 dota does not grant the hp regen (tested it myself to be sure). it also appears that neither the active bonus (10%) nor the passive bonus from mordigans (15%, suming up to 25%) is granted on the courier edition. my tests might have been sloppy on the ias part though.

                        gonna create a new topic and add it to the sticky.

                              Function names refer to the ones that you would get through obfuscation of DotA v6.77c

                              The idea of being able to enable the Armlet on the bear without having any negative side-effects was stupid in the first place anyway...
                              You wouldn't keep Armlet constantly enabled on a hero; when you enable it, it grants you some good, but does you some harm on the way, too, and it is a decision to keep it on or not

                              Currently the Armlet on the bear... pfft, just stupid, I mean, it grants you everything without doing any harm when you activate it. There simply is no reason to keep it off... it is not a decision

                              Anyway, as you may see;
                              - active version on the bear should have +40 dmg without any IAS
                              - inactive version on the bear should have +9 dmg with 15 IAS

                              it is a decision to keep it on or not, a decision between IAS and bonus damage
                              No imbalanced 8 hp/sec regen in any cases
                              that is how it should be

                              Credits to TomatoBisque for the report. It explains the situation on every aspect nice and complete.
