  • Nether Ward hits the caster whith mana-over-time spells inconsistently

UPDATE: I don't know when it happened, but they changed it so that every used mana triggers Nether Ward. Means every single tick of Voodoo Restauration, Pulse Nova, Chakrams, Ball Lightning and Morph triggers it.

    EDIT:

In DotA1, you get zapped by Nether Ward for manually casting Morph, but not for auto-cast. It can't be casted manually in Dota2.

    My opinion:
It would be best to make all toggle spells, or spells which cost mana over time consistent in Dota2.
    Currently that's not the case.
Storm Spirit and Timbersaw get damaged periodically when using their ulties.
Morphling gets damaged periodically aswell for using Morph.
Leshrac and Witch Doctor only get damaged once upon casting.

In DotA1, all of them get damaged once upon activating their spells.

Morphling gets damaged if he uses Morph manually, and not at all if he uses auto-cast.

However, every other auto-cast in DotA1 triggers Nether Ward. Be it a spell or an attack modifier, manual and auto cast trigger it.

I'd say make it trigger on every mana which gets used.

Summary: Netherward triggers on every manacost interval of Chakram.

    Repro:
    1. Cast netherward
    2. Cast Chakram

    Result:
Damage on every mana cost interval.

    Expected Result:
No damage (?), initial damage (?), similar to leshracs ultimate.

Tested on both W3 DotA and Dota 2, and so I confirm.

For anyone who wants to do re-tests, I want to remind that enabling wtf on Dota 2 makes the Nether Ward impotent.

Wait so how is it supposed to work? (how does it work in Dota1?)

While I don't have experience with Goblin Shredder, the way it works with Leshrac's Pulse Nova is that the ward burns you based on the initial mana cost of activating the spell, and the mana cost for channeling doesn't hurt you. (Key point is that nether ward damages you when you *cast* a spell)

[Discuss] Pugna's Nether Ward targets autocast spells such as Morph

            copied from dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=83041:

            Nether Ward:
            - 2: D1: Apparently (I may be wrong on that way) auto-casting Morph by toggling it on will not make Nether Ward target Morphling. D2: Toggling Morph on, every tick of Morph will be rewarded with a healthy Nether Ward zap in the face.

Since the ward is designed to impose a dmg return based on mana used it should on all mana uses return dmg. As noted above it does not in all cases.
