The problem we have now is there is no source telling us which dota2 changes are intentional and which are not.

Some bugs are obvious of course, but others are not. Likewise, some intended changes are obvious to correct for strange behavior in wc3. That being said, we could never have known that ancient backdoor protection, batrider vision, and armlet on spirit bear were considered intentional. It would have just taken a single sentence from any Dev or Icefrog to say that these changes are intentional and still being tested, and that we can all calm down. Of course, we just get complete radio silence.

The funniest part is, even with 6.78, we *still* don't have real confirmation that these were intentional changes. Were the bugs simply too hard to fix in dota2? Valve doesn't want to dedicate the time to make certain changes in dota2? That would be some hilarious irony if either of those were even remotely true. Or is the truth simply that icefrog has little control over what actually happens at valve? He can't force them to fix bugs, but he can make all the changes we wants in 6.78. Acutally, looking at all the bugs fixed in 6.78b leads me to believe, that yes, Icefrog has almost nothing to do with valve these days.

Those 3 changes in particular were known and intended. Batrider was manually inputed with that vision when flying, the ancient not having protection was reported a shitton of times on playdota.com and discussed even so IceFrog was well aware of it since ancient times and the armlet on spirit bear was also quite known although you MIGHT have a point on this one.

So the likelihood of those changes being made cause Volvo can't open up a compiler and use the debugger is pretty huge. 204.32% plus minus 0.04%.

Yeah, that's why the ancient backdoor protection remained - not that deleting a single line fixes this.
The changes were simply tested in Dota 2 (while being bugs before) and it seems that they liked it.
If you think I've closed or deleted a post unjustified, feel free to PM me and I'll explain it to you/discuss it with you further.

Source for any of those changes being intended? Lots of people speculated about why valve wouldn't fix them, but there was zero confirmation.

Are you saying we should treat every discrepancy which isn't an obvious exploit/oversight bug as an intended change?

Damage instances and values being different on many spells. Backswings being wrong/missing. Invisibility functioning very differently in a variety of ways. Armor and attack speed being calculated differently. Neutral creep spell logic and cast times. Every single one of those is a simple fix. How do we know they aren't intended? The fact is we can only use common sense and say they are bugs - knowing that dota2 should be a 100% port from the wc3 engine, the only expected changes should be to fix bugs or limitations. The exact same should have applied to the 4 changes in 6.78. If the devs plan to test new changes in dota2, they owe it to these forums to just say so, and stop people from yelling all over the forums for months.

Maybe I expressed myself wrong but I meant those 3 changes were intended in WC3.

icefrog apparently read many of these bug reports, so sometimes he thinks "oh this might be intersting if intended" or "hey this is probably a good nerf/buff/change to dota"
is this good? yes, coz dota2 is actually developing dota instead of just copying

Specially things such as Ancients' backdoor protection and Batrider's firefly vision.
