  • Bad location of map in HUD

More than once i have been clicking to the bottom right of the screen to retreat as radiant and because of the location of the where the map is in the HUD i may just click the edge of the map and it forces my character to move to the top right of the map. please rethink the position of where you have chosen to place the minimap.

Im not sure what the bottom right has to do with the minimap but I know what you mean.
Clicking the minimap by accident is indeed a problem but there will be some kind of disable or something dont worry.
To rethink the hole ui because of that is a little drastic and every other moba has the minimap the same way.
In the meantime get used to it and you wont need a mod / disable button anymore when that is released.

If you lack accuracy with the mouse, it's going to be getting in the way of a lot more than retreating with the minimap.

I'm fully in support of having the option to swap the minimap position, but feel free to click on the bottom left corner of the minimap instead of the top right in the meantime.

I think you missed what he was saying, either way though I don't see where you could put the mini map that would avoid this problem... you have to click all sides of the screen at some point

Happens in Dota 2 occasionally for me, never in Dota 1. I'll be retreating, clicking a lot and moving the camera, and somewhere I'll misclick on the minimap somewhere and move towards the enemy :\

Well if the fucking minimap had atleast a good "hitbox" you might say but if you click ABOVE the map you aswell end up retreating without even coming close to the fucking thing

Yes, please do something. I have died too many times to this.

I think this tertiary to being able to customize your UI, which I hope will be implemented.

With that said, a quick fix would be an option to turn off minimap sensitivity (meaning that clicking on the minimap would not make your hero move towards the clicked spot. Other functions would remain). That would probably save new players from a few unnecessary deaths and confusion.

The problem with disabling the minimap hitbox or at least minimizing its reaction is going to prove to be a problem for people like me. I've only started on Dota 2 and have learned to use the minimap clicking to retreat to a far location without having to micromanage my hero's movements.

If I am laning at a location where the lane is vertical to your view, because of the limited vision I have due to the UI, I simply click on the minimap multiple times with the first click being inaccurate but generally in the direction I want to, and then the succeeding clicks going towards the spot I intend to. The reason for the rapid clicking despite the lack of accuracy is to at least get my hero starting to move in the general direction. Yes I wish there was a better way.

I would imagine later on that there could be an option for mini UI as with other RTS games and also an option to flip the UI like a mirror of the default.

Valve could add an option that require an additional button to be pressed in order to click the minimap. I don't think moving the minimap will solve the problem (but I think it is a very minor problem, that can be fixed by practice)

This. I do believe it happens because in WC3 the bottom panel was a single rectangle whereas in Dota 2 it's a bunch of squares and rectangles, all with different proportions.

The same has happened to me. It never happened to me in the original. You know why it happens? I hate to repeat the same complaint a billion times over, but it's because the screen feels too zoomed in with the character models being larger than the original. There has been no screen zoom to compensate for that fact despite numerous complaints.

I think this is indeed a disadvantage to radiant team... but then again, in my personal opinion though, it is an acquired skill to click the proper area of the screen not only in DOTA but in other moba games as well... and even none moba games. The same skill you need to be able to calmly pick out the proper hero to stun in an extreme all skills and graphic effects clash.

I do think however that there should be an option to change where you can put the map in the hud.

I have had this problem myself and agree it should be moved.

Another reason in favour of the option to swap it is so when you are in top lane you can open the shop tab and still see the lane next to you. It is awesome in bot lane shop where you can see the lane, but shopping in top lane can really put you in hairy situations.
