  • Why doesn't DOTA utilize different maps???

I understand how classic the original DOTA map is, but I think it would be ridiculously awesome to have different style maps...different tilesets, different lane setups, dense forested maps, maps with mountain terrain, elevated temples which you're hero gets a little extra sight on, bridges, ETC. There are so many untapped possibilities. The classic DOTA map will always be #1, but the game would be so much more interesting with more map possibilities.

A custom map editor would cool too, to allow the community to showcase their creativity. That's what spawned DOTA in the first place!

Well this would be very COOL!

I would make a bet that the game will likely have more maps further down the road. Considering all the extra custom content the cash shop will be bringing, it doesn't sound out of the question, as it's not changing DOTA, just adding more to it. And it's great to have a little variation instead of the same map over and over.

        Older threads exist about this.
Too early to even think about this topic.

The map layout is a HUGE part of balance.
