    Can't see the fricking map during pick phase

    Why is this not fixed yet?

    It is essential to see where your allies have gone in order to pick a hero appropriate for the lane. If I had a gold coin for every time I've had to pick blindly because my team does not tell me which lanes they have chosen... Or I have to waste 30-60 seconds trying to find that information out...

    Easy solutions:

    1) Button/hotkey to alternate between pick screen and game screen

    2) Button/hotkey to view/hide minimap

    3) Create space for the minimap on the pick screen

    For god's sake, sort it out.

    This is essential.

    Pisses me off so much when our team doesn't have a mid lane hero so I am forced to pick one, only to find that a someone else has taken that lane and won't move.

        Yeah communication would work if your teammates actually responded...

        It isn't uncommon, though, that noone answers you and after 5 min they start spamming voice+allchat with russian and you begin to understand you are matched again with 4 guys who do not speak a single word of english on Europe West.

        So yeah, minimap would be great to show during picking stage.

          +1 for at least minimap option. (or any of the proposed solutions)

          To pretend that everyone would answer your question is just naïve. it's a lot easier to answer the question yourself when the information should be easy to access.

                    It's not 'better'. All that will happen with your suggestion is, people won't bother selecting what lane they're in.

                    People on this forum never consider that every system has to work with the lowest common denominator.

                    That's why every thread gets some fool saying 'LOL JUST TALK 2 ALLIEZ LOL NUB'.

                    Being able to view the minimap is a simple and effective solution to the problem, and doesn't even require much development.

                    It appears that Valve really doesn't give a shit about what players think, really, what with this and the fucking carousel picker still in game. It's no wonder there are multiple threads arising on similar issues like this one. I mean christ, the middle mouse button still can't be remapped, what a joke.

                      If the game was fully released and polished you might have a point, but it's not. There are greater priorities for them to focus on.

                        Nah I don't buy that, ok the game is 'beta' but it's nearly finished in terms of heroes and so on, and these are problems that ARE EASILY FIXED. BECAUSE THEY WERE FIXED BEFORE VALVE CHANGED THINGS.

                        Minimap on pick screen: previous pick screen had minimap visible

                        Carousel picker: was implemented to replace previous picker, which worked fine

                        So your argument falls flat, and is merely an attempt at misdirection like every other post in this thread and others that isnt a +1. (sorry if this seems harsh, I'm not trying to be aggressive, I'm just in a bad mood this evening due to straight losses =S)

                        As for the link, it's not that I don't like that solution, I just don't think it will work with the kind of people that are causing the problem (i.e. people that refuse to simply state "I am mid" or "You need to pick a bot lane solo", and other very simple communications). It is overly complex when the only thing we need to solve the problem is a bloody minimap.

                          Yeah, half of the forum suggestions are fixes to problems Valve created when trying to make the game look cool without thinking about playability.
