  • Map size / Creep speed and everyone else's speed inconsistency

Hey guys, I found out an inconsistent thing from Dota 1 and 2:

In Dota 1, the very 1st wave of (mid) creeps of both teams meet at the center of the map in exactly 20 secs. No blocking, ofc. But in Dota 2, they reach the center in 18 secs. And for the 2 other lanes, the creeps arrive in 30 seconds later in Dota 1. Now (Dota 2) they also arrive 2 seconds earlier.

Obviously, I'm not sure if it's the map size or everyone else's speed inconsistency, and I have yet to check if the heroes in Dota 1 and 2 reach the center of the map in the same time. I'll try to update this report later.

Found this because I've been playing with a premade team since Dota 1, and finally they were able to find time to play Dota 2, and we had a lot of time-based strategies and we were kinda bugged by the inconsistent timing of the creeps, thus invalidating those strats of ours. Although I've kinda noticed this before, but never really gave it attention...

I have a feeling most of the delay is coming from where they initially spawn, as sometimes they get stuck on the tower and walk around it. Also take into consideration that dota 2 and wc3 don't use the same exact pathing algorithms, so some minor differences may be what are causing different arrival times.

The Dota 2 map is smaller AFAIK. At least the size has been duscussed .
