    This has been pissing me off since the beginning of time and since nobody is bothered to post this, I guess I will.

    This issue is VERY OBVIOUS at Sentinel tier1 tower ---- it is AS IF tower has TOO MUCH FREAKING RANGE. There is not enough space, the choke point is VERY small compared to dota1

    In dota 1 heroes are smaller, space is bigger and tower range isn't as big.
    So you can walk up the ramp and kill creeps, in Dota2 however you walk up the ramp and if you move an inch forward tower rapes you.
    Its not as obvious with Scourge tier 1 BUT IT IS STILL AN ISSUE.


    Why is this important? You are SUICIDAL if you try to go be aggressive and position yourself uphill at Sentinel Tier1. The advantage for Sentinel is HUGE, Sentinel Mid is a safe lane compared to Scourge Mid as even though it has much smaller safe zone than dota1, it is NOT AS RISKY to get aggressive as Sentinel and walk uphill there.


    Before you try to disprove me, please start dota1 and walk around Sentinel and Scourge mid then compare that to dota2.

      Pics or not, he's right. There is a dramatic difference. I don't know when last you played dota 1, but if you do the difference will be immediately apparent.

          I also experience this problem. Running up the Dire side mid highground and harassing or last hitting is a breeze: but do the same on Radiant side and you take tower aggro almost immediately. IMO that tower is too close, there is a huge difference the tower positioning: Dire's tower is off to the side giving a huge area to roam outside of rower aggro range, whereas Radiant's side has almost no room to move and the tower is directly in front of you. This is an imbalance if you ask me.

            agreed, A good example of this is if you put any ward at the very Left of the ramp (on the high ground) the tower cannot see it if it is Dire, But can if it is radiant, Mid is supposed to be perfectly symetrical (towers wise) so it being slightly further is an Imbalance, +1

                OP has a good point. I noticed it when I first started playing Dota 2, but when you get used to it you just avoid Sentinel's T1 tower range, and it's the kind of thing you tend to internalize and forget about it. On the other hand, it's not equally balanced as far as it concerns to mid lane, you do have more mobility and vision coverage if you're attacking Dire's T1 tower.

                    You are right. In the beginning I also had that feeling that I could step uphill without getting hit in dota1 whereas here you are immediatly focused.

                      I confirm this fucking issue, I still wasn't sure about why I could get under attack when I'm near tear one while staying close to the river, even though it wasn't possible in dota1 !

                          On dire side, you cant really be ganked from the bottom right.. your tower has vision along that edge, because it is 'off centre'. There is however more room up the stairs to fight creeps.
                          On the radiant side, you can be ganked from either side. Your tower doesn't have vision because it is more central. But there is less room up the stairs to fight creeps.

                          Seems good. Not identical, but equivalent.

                              I posted about this issue before, I think there's a thread somewhere speaking of terrain changes in DOTA 2. Well, there are a lot of problems, I made a few videos just looking at the Bottom Rune Point and it's ridiculous how different the terrain is. I could make a set of videos just like these for the ramp that this guy is talking about, but what would be the point? The developers should know about all these little quirks easily, they just don't care, apparently.





                              Perhaps we should make a "Terrain Changes in DOTA 2 Compilation" thread?
