  • Dota 2 randomly crashing to desktop with no error message

As of the past six months, dota will crash to desktop for an inexplicable reason. It only occurs with dota at this time, although previously did occur with Apex, as well. Now, it's just dota.

    My specs: 3700x, 2080, 16gb ram (3400mhz), 2x 1tb nvme m.2 ssd, 750w evga psu. I am on Windows 10 Pro.

I do have log files, although, I am not sure how to properly upload them here.

For a while, the crashing would primarily occur at the end of games. Then, it occurred randomly throughout games. Sometimes during team fights and sometimes out of fights. I can't recall the last time it crashed to desktop when I am in the menus, or pick screen. Has happened many times right when the throne is taken and the game is moving on to post-screen. However, recently, it is crashing in the middle of my games.

I am not overheating according to Armoury Crate temperature readings. CPU temp is usually no higher than 60c most of the time when playing. Cooler is a Noctua u12a.

Nvidia drivers have just been reinstalled (clean installation) and I am on the latest version (471.41). I am not overclocking the CPU or GPU.

I have already "validated" the game files on a number of occasions.

If someone tells me where to upload the .dmp files, I can do that. I have a few. I am not sure how to paste the text within the files here, either.

early problems with win 10 were alleviated by using the 32 bit version so u can change the dota.exe in that shortcut to bin\win32\dota2.exe and see if it works, let us all know, thanks

or put -32bit in your steam launch options, thanks

I got the same problem but with different specification, I have laptop intel celeron N4000 boost the clock to 2.6Ghz 4Gb RAM 256 SSD (new) resolution 1366x768, I experiencing this crash since battle pass 2021 nemestice update until now, yesterday I used dx9 and nod3d9ex on launch option and a 2018 intel uhd graphic 600 driver which I added VRAM from 128Mb to 1280Mb, it crashes once per game (turbo matchmaking) I got 30-50 Fps.
I do setup the power option into highest performance and 100% cpu maximizing power.
        thank you in advance

Thank you, I will try this method.

Currently, my boot command is -novid because I don't need to see the intro video every time. Is it possible to have -novid and -32bit operating at the same time? This -32bit option seems easier to try than the lengthy command in the bat file. It also appears to change other items in the bat file? Let me try 32bit option for a few days and I will get back to you. Thanks for taking the time to respond!
