So asking an ISP to modify the routing path is something that at least here, doesn't work..
Here in Brazil the standard customer service guy does not have any ideia of what a route is. He'll ask you to check your download speed at a random website and will tell you that your internet is fine. I think that's the way it works on most countries. You have to nag them until they put someone on the phone that understands what the fuck is going on. It took me dozens of calls a couple years ago for them to change some bad routing that was screwing me.

I don't know how stuff works in Argentina, but in Brazil we have a governmental agency that take care of all telecommunication services (ANATEL). Usually by complaining to them you have your problems solved faster here in Brazil.

I've been reading in the last year that your country is kinda screwed since Ms. Kirchner decided to be queen of Argentina, but one would think that by having a super strong and big government you would have agencies like the one I talked about that we have in Brazil to control the private corporations.

As I said, chaning hosts from A to B here in Brazil won't solve anything. It is not a realiable solution. People who are fine with servers today might get screwed with the change, and then Valve hasn't solved anything. You must be able to see the bigger picture the goes way beyond some zones lagging.

      Cheers

      • Yeah, I get your point. And it is the same here, exactly. Anyway it is always good to have more servers, as some countries may not have those cool Agencies like you guys do. And the server being offline problem wont be happening if we had 2 "server clusters" in LA, while they fix one the other one is up and running. *Like US east and US West.

Maybe we lack user quota to be eligible for getting more servers, it's a cost-efficiency issue at Valves office, they won't establish more servers if there are not enough players to fill them.

When we discovered the misconfiguration issue yesterday, we realized that the correct action was to completely reinstall and reconfigure every server machine in the region. We currently have sixty server machines allocated and this process requires reinstalling and reconfiguring every single one. We also have to test and ensure that each machine is operating correctly.

We appreciate your patience while we are working to re-establish the servers.

Its Weekend, hopefully by Monday they'll start working on the servers again. or maybe they are working as we speak but the rebuild of the servers is in deed taking more than 36 hours * Which I doubt

Exactly, the same thing I don't understand.. just how?? 60 servers being offline for so long, a part of me believe they might be working their ass of to get it working again, but the other part of me thinks that SA server is being treated as a low priority, thus giving us this amount of downtime x(, think about US having a 1 week spiking/lag behavior followed by a 3 day hard downtime... its hard to imagine.

Anyway I'm optimistic and I trust in the old Gabe.. hopefully things are going to be more stable on the long run..
